I just saw the new tintin trailer and it looks brilliant. everything aboub it looks just right:
Steven Spielberg directing, Peter Jackson producing, Steven Moffat, Joe Cornish and Edgar wright wrighting the script, plus a whole host of english actors(Jamie Bell, Andy serkis, simon pegg, Nick Frost and Daniel Craig). I can't wait!

(i know i'm just being a fanboy but are there any other tintin lovers on the escapist?)

Wow...I did not know that Spielberg was doing it, and I also had no idea it was animated...

But then again, I haven't looked into the film since hearing about it months ago. Looks interesting and I'm sure I'll borrow it off a friend because I used to love TinTin was a kid...

I started reading Tintin long before I got old enough to actually understand what the stories were about. Which only makes it even MORE fun reading them again now!

As for that trailer: If you're going to make everything look THAT realistic anyway, why not just make a live-action movie like a normal person and save the CGI for complex special effects? I can understand making an animated Snowy (Tintin's little white dog) because his subtly stylized character design is among the most iconic of all time and his behaviour is just a little more "human" than one can hope to accomplish with any living animal - but the rest just makes the movie look all the more like The Spirits Within.

That said, I'm definitely going to watch it. There's not nearly enough good, old-fashioned Indiana Jones - style adventure stuff being made these days. I don't think there ever was.

I never had much of a relation to Tintin aside from watching a few episodes now and then.

I had no idea they were making a movie. I might just go take a look.
