So I am using a tiny laptop mainly for writing stories but I was going to put some games on it.

See the graphics card is Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 500, now I assume thats weak, and I can't even seem to play Minecraft becuase of OpenGL,

Anyone know if this can play anything?

Most likely no. You could get some indie games working, but you're pretty much out of luck for playing anything after 2004 with good visuals.

Well I downloaded Desktop Dungeons but keep getting an error: "unexpected error occured when trying to play."

I don't know if this will help...

Take it with a grain of salt though. It says I should be able to run all the Stalker games and it was right about Chernobyl, but wrong about Clear Sky and I imagine Pripyat(not going to buy it to find out I runs bad). Clear Sky opens and will run, badly despite the site saying I have more than enough juice to run it past the min requirements(bad framerate even with settings turned to min and all advanced settings turned down).

Civ 2, Baldur's Gate 2 (turn off 3d acceleration), Planescape: Torment, Freedom Force and Freedom Force vs The Third Reich, Homeworld, World of Goo, Xcom and Jagged Alliance 2.

That should keep you busy for a few years.

If you're using an Intel graphics chipset, games are something you shouldn't even bother considering.

Unless, of course, you prefer older games.

Desktop Dungeons
Dungeons of Daggorath
Rogue
Westwood-era CnC games
X-Wing and Tie Fighter
Red Baron
A-10: Tank Killer
Myst

Those should last you for a while.

I managed to get Half Life 2 and Ep. 1 running on full settings with probably a worse card than that. Also Intel brand. And Quakelive ran pretty quickly until my bandwidth magically shrunk one day.

TF2 and Ep. 2 when switched to DirectX 8.1.

Can play plenty of indie games, including the entire Touhou Project series running at 60 FPS except for Scarlet Devil because it hates Vista.
