Construct additional Pylons.
Try and get resource gathering going strong early in the game so that you're well stocked up. Build more than one Acadamy/Hive/Whatever the Protoss use that I've forgotten to increase unit output. If playing Zerg an early rush can cut off the enemy's resource gathering, crippling his economy and leaving him open to a larger assault. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
Oh, and watch some Korean professional matches, they can be quite good.
If it helps i focus on Terran mostly.
I know about keeping resource collecting going strong, but what of attacking. Thats where i always fail. how do i best manage my army?
The rush can still work with Terrans if you get a couple of early marines, but it's still easier with 'lings.
One of the first rules of any RTS but especially Starcaft is scout, scout, scout. If oyu know where your enemy is you can tell from which direction an assault is going to come and respond accordingly. A forward scout unit should be placed somewhere between the enemy's base and yours, so if they die you know an attack is coming.
When assaulting the enemy it's best to have a diverse group of units that complement each other and cover for each other's weaknesses, if you just send marines and only marines your force isn't going to get far. I would also advise having a smaller force attack the enemy from a different direction, drawing his attention to the other side of his base while the bulk of your force attacks from the undefended side.
Make good use of Science Vessels when facing Zerg, since they can burrow and Science Vessels reveal the hidden units and hopefully you should go well. You might want to try playing as the other two races as well to get a feel for their strengths and weaknesses, so that you can incorporate that knowledge into you attacks when playing Terran.
