tips on focusing on work

this is partly about gaming, but mostly not so i've put it in the of topic section

right, this being a gamers website i'm sure there are a lot of people here who have the same problems as me, and i'm hoping some among us also have good solutions to the infamous problem of gaming getting in the way of our day to day life.

basically, right now i'm really struggling to do a English essay that i need to do rather urgently. i know i have the KNOWLEDGE to do it, thats not a problem, but not being distracted by games is a whole other problem

i'm sure other people here are in a similar situation to me, so if anyone knows good tips or tricks for helping you focus on work, i think it would help a lot of people and not just myself by putting it up here. thanks!

Put all your controlers and/or your mouse and keyboard in a box and have someone hide it untill your done.

Just get your essay done, then its finished and its one less thing you have to worry about.

You got all the time in the world for games, get more important things out the way first then play your games afterward because your time will be more free to play games because you wont have anything to do so you can use your free time to play games.

Ive had to do this as well, if people have asked me to come online and play or if i have a new game it is tempting but end of the day once its done its done then you wont have to do it last minute.

I do this with all my college work now, just write up a list of what you have to do, notes useually help alot to structure essays. Then just go through it, do an essay in one go that way your more motivated once you start writing. Take breaks every so often for drink and food and you should be fine.

Ive recently got like 6-7 essays done and I have all easter break off, everyone else is still doing there work over easter so i have 2 weeks to do whatever i want. So think of the benefits
