So recently, the sixth update for Gears of War 2 has caused some people (including myself) to experience screen freezing before the title screen, rendering the game unplayable until they fix the issue.

So my question to all of you is, for console games, do you think developers should be releasing a lot of title updates for their games, or should they simply take more time to release a game to completely optimize it?

They should only fix what's broken. There's no need to update every two months even after 2 years or more after a game has been released. Unless it's an MMO where they add things every now and then.

i think there's only so many things devs can actually find with play testers, they actually need to sell it before they can find out all the bugs and then fix them. look on the bright side, atleast they are being fixed rather than just left to fail for an eternity!

They probably should bring it out, then patch it. Selling the game means there's about 10 million play testers worldwide. Any bugs would be found quicker than if they just kept it in development til they worked out all the bugs. But still, they SHOULD try to fix most of them before release.
