The fact that you could ***** more does not mean you are not currently bitching.

And then basically following it up with "but you don't hear me complaining."

Also, I tend to hate storylines from these critics, anyway. They tend to be either self-fellating (Linkara, Blockbuster Buster), not funny (Diamanda, Blockbuster Buster), drag (Nostalgia Critic, Blockbuster Buster) or just irritating as fuck (Blockbuster Buster). But then, I've always had that problem.
Agreed.

Anyway, more on topic, so far, I'm not liking it. Yeah, it made me laugh a few times, but so far it just really seems like its dragging. Not to mention it takes itself too serious, and too often its parodies are more akin to flat out rip offs (the bit between Krill [or whatever that alien Spoony plays is called] and the Emperor they actually flat out say they're doing the scenes between Vader and Papltine [sp?]).

And that's why I enjoyed the other anniversary specials: they didn't take themselves too seriously. The first one: Let's fight! Why? Who cares!
The second: Hey, we're popular, let's take over a micro nation!
The third: Let's find an ancient powerful artifact while in cosplay!

Admittedly though, I find the third the weakest of the three because it was on and off with how serious it was taking itself.

But still, To Boldly Flee may get much better, but I'm not holding out much hope for it.

Eh, I don't really watch the specials that much. The only reviewers I really follow are Spoony, Brad and Linkara. They get a lot more good material than the others, while NC's is kinda drying up currently.

I don't think it's a bad thing that the OP dislikes Boldly and TGWTG in general. Opinions are opinions, and his are intelligent and well-founded.

I do however think it's hilarious that he created a general opinion thread just so he had a place to complain. Those are usually created by fans, right? XD

So I'll give my two cents. I think Boldly is perfectly fine for the harmless, stupid romp that it is. Especially because Doug said this will be the last anniversary special as we know them so it's kind of a finale. Spoony and NC are at their best when they are devouring the scenery. It's much better than Knights, which kind of defeated the purpose of these anniversary movies with its stupid stupid costume gimmick[footnote] Repetition intentional. Its stupid gimmick of wearing stupid costumes.[/footnote] that replaced the net personas riffing off of each other with bad parodies of Gandalf and Indiana doing the same.

It is indeed good that Orlando is back with a new role. He can out-act anyone else on the show, which is no surprise since they are not actually actors and he is, but he didn't fare so well with Malachite, what makes me think he was acting against type on that one, and boy is this a run-on sentence or what.

Speaking of which, wasn't a new episode supposed to released every day this week? I recall that was how Knights was released, but there hasn't been any since Sunday.

On the site itself, I can't say much. I don't follow it regularly (as I follow, say, the Escapist) and while I still enjoy the Critic I only watch his reviews when it's of a movie I've watched or heard about being specifically bad. The rest of the site has enough contest that if I get bored of a reviewer I just stop watching it. I don't visit with any sort of regularity, so I usually just watch whatever I think will be fun whenever I plop in there. The exception is Nostalgia Chick, who is consistently awesome. I wish she was the one doing that Tropes vs Women thing, since she has a lot more screen presence and showmanship (showomanship?) than Sarkeesian. Plus, when you don't openly identify yourself as a feminist the people who need to learn about feminism the most are more likely to listen to you.

I'm sorry you don't like it. I do like it. Different tastes, man.
Well...duh. Did my OP really come across as though I were stating my opinion as fact? I made the thread wondering how people on a different site liked TBF and TGWTG.
You may have made it for that purpose, but came across as "This is a piece of crap! Who agrees with me?"
Oh, well at least somebody tells me. It's not always easy to predict how people will respond to your posts. Guess not much can be done about it at this point. This thread will probably lose steam soon, so it won't matter.
There's basically what I hate about forums and texting, you can type all you want but in the end most of our intent is shown through body language and voice. A poster can make a valid point and sound like a total dick. So no biggie.

I'm quite enjoying To Boldly Flee. It's not exactly golden but it's enjoyable. The Dr Tease and Nostagia Critic penis exchange was the funniest thing the site has put out in years.

As for TGWTG as a site I only regularly watch NChick and Todd in the Shadows with occasional dippage into Phealous. Nostalgia Critic has always been very hit and miss for me, same with the anniversaries. I liked the Brawl, and Kickassia had it's moments (namely the Chick as Palin). Didn't really like Suburban Knights. To be honest, the anniversaries aren't exactly great but they're easy watches if I'm bored. I don't get excited but if I've got nothing else to watch I might as well whack on the latest.

Part Three is up. If you didn't like the first two parts, you'll hate this one. It's definitely the weakest part so far. It has its moments of comedy, but it had way too much mood whiplash between comedy and seriousness.

That's an interesting point, and one I doubt many consider. I guess until they invent video only forums people will just have to be careful in how they perceive certain posts.
