I have no moral qualms with eating a horse.

That said, I do take issue with killing and eating any animal, be it horse, dog, cow, etc, that someone has invested a lot of time and emotion into. As long as it's not a pet, it's fair game to eat IMO, otherwise it's off limits.

Well its quite odd. We got hamburgare which is burgers (aka Mc'donalds and such). With Hamburgarekött is most often horse meat (Some might be something else) so keep in mind when somebody talks about hamburgarekött on sandwhich then its most often horse meat otherwise its normal beef (or whatever burgers are made of ^^)
Generally, in the case of fast food chains, this is an organic derivative of plastic, with some artificial beef flavoring.

While I've never found Horse meat to be a common or particularly desired food choice, (and I think i remember hearing about it being tough and stringy?? :?) a proper gentleman who knows better than to let good pony meat go to waste.

I can't see it being an issue, unless you follow the 'Don't eat cute/useful/whatever!' persuasion of carnivorousness(?). I imagine Horses are generally seen as a no-eating animal because they are very useful for both labour animals as well as riding and were quite valuable.

Bottom line I guess, if you want to eat it, can acquire and prepare it safely and legally, by all means, go for it.

well I guess that depends on where you live, considering im quite certain all big fast food places are claiming to have only 100% beef. (In sweden)

In my understanding, hog/swine/boar ect. is all pork. Pigs are significantly smaller and mostly kept as pets.
Nah, its piggy all the way through. Wild boar = wild pig = wild hog = razorback, domestic pig = pig = hog

The domestic pig is generally considered a subspecies of the wild kind. In the US, its confusing because the wild boar are typically descended from domestic pig. There is some evidence that the release of wild russian boars resulted in the wild breed we currently have running amok all over the place.

As proof of the attachment people have with their pets, I wouldn't be surprised if pig owners tried separate their little pets from their livestock counterparts.

The only ethical belief I have when it comes to eating animals is a staunch resolution that other predators must not be consumed, out of respect. I would not eat a dog, I would not eat a hawk, I would not eat a bear, etc. "They are my predator brothers and sisters" is the mindset I tend to have. Of course I would probably re-evaluate if I was starving.

I would love to eat horse, but then I try to eat as many different types of animals as I can; guinea pig has been on my list of meats that I must try before I die ever since I did a research paper on Peru in middle school, and discovered that it was a common meat in parts of the country. I think that tells you all you need to know about what I'm willing to eat :3
I've been wanting to try guinea pig too, I've heard it can be delicious. I've also always wanted to try sea turtle, but they're as endangered as a very endangered thing.

Definitely. I live in Japan and horse sashimi is pretty common. It tastes great. Whale is another controversial food here but it tastes like congealed grease, so I stay away from it.

What if you didn't know you knew it before it was meat?

Meat is meat, doesn't matter where it came from.

Depends. If he didn't know he knew it before it was meat and he knew he knew it before it was meat after it was meat he would regret eating the meat, but if he didn't know he knew it before it was meat and after it was meat he didn't know he knew it before it was meat then since he didn't know he didn't know it before it was meat he wouldn't care.

You should have made a poll. I don't mind, as long as you keep it sanitary you know, cook the meat and don't be weird about it, basically, its fine as long as you do it like a boss.

I know, I was making a joke about the quality of fast food. At least out here you can usually replace their patties with a slab of edible plastic and not notice a whole lot of difference.

I wouldn't eat a horse mainly because my sister rides them and she'd never forgive me.
