It seems to me like you're some sort of an Xbox fan. But have you noticed that Sony is also a big corporation. Money doesn't matter really, it's who hackers are annoyed with, or if there is some sort of long term goal for them. Maybe it was Microsoft who paid hackers to do that(because I seriously doubt anyone in m$ would know how to do that). There is a lot we don't know, corporate espionage and stuff like that. Who knows what's really happening behind the scenes, and who can profit from the whole situation. And maybe it's just those guys from /b/...
I disagree. Anything can be hacked, it's just a matter of Sony pissing off the right person or someone wanting to prove something- who knows. I agree that Xbox is probably more secure. But then again, holy shit, Sony was running PSN on outdated Apache versions and kept customer/client info on plain txt files. It's less of a matter that it's amazing that someone pulled this off but that Sony was careless and was probably asking to be hacked or some kind of logic.

Do you know how many personnel are dedicated to serving XBL / PSN? Any idea? General number? Anything. Do you have any even tangential proof of this, or is it just an assumption on your part?

If sony were really that insecure, they'd have been hacked before. They were some REALLY good hackers.
While the 2000 incident is pretty solid evidence, the hacked points incident does not support your statement. As the article you linked said, Microsoft was on to them within hours. While there were millions of dollars of losses, it obviously did not sink the company.ShakesZX said:

The only lesson we can glean for all of this is that regardless either through shitty luck or pissing off enough of the right people or a combination off both, you will eventually go down.
I think the most telling thing of all is how Microsoft isn't running it's mouth off. I have yet to read a press release from them stating that this could never happen to them. You know why that is? Its cause they aren't stupid they understand the gravity of the situation and the long lasting effect it will have on the industry as a whole.
No one is coming out of this unscathed.
