I was shocked to actually see someone who claims to be part of Anonymous openly talking as a member of Anonymous on a public forum. Does anyone know if it's illegal to be part of Anonymous? Or is it just individuals who hack?

It seemed odd that someone would be claiming to be part of what I thought is considered a criminal organisation.

It is not illegal to be a member of anonymous as you can be in anonymous simply by saying you are in anonymous. Watch the extra credits episode for more details. Also, why have you just found out that people can claim to be anonymous on the internet? They are all over the place.
