If it wasn't for Toonami I doubt i'd be the person I am today. A good majority of my childhood was spent watching Toonami and I will never forget those times. Now i'm off to go relive some of those memories.

I watched maybe two episodes G Gundam, but those had a big influence on me. Let's also not forget one of the greatest shows ever, Megas XLR.

Toonami was a great series of shows and what I liked was it had a sense of mature situations. But one thing I remember the most was this...

I mean come on Cartoons today wont deliever a message like that to our kids.

*sighs* But to be honest I dont want it to come back; only because it wont be the same and it will fail to capture thosands of kids like it did in the 90's. Thank heavens for DVD's and the internet.

Children's TV gets worse as the days pass by. I blame this generations parents.
I don't know about worse...maybe just more crazy acid-trip like. Have you seen that show Adventure Time? Jesus it's weird.

And yea, my avatar is now Tom. Suck it.
Don't know how it's going on in other countries but in the UK the new children's shows are just... awful. There are near no new ideas and they've resorted to remaking some classics, such as Arthur and Denise the Menace... and these are just painful to watch.

Y-you know.... ive never cry. But just thinking back on all the amazing times i had watching toonami, and all the shows it aired.... *sniffle* it brings a tear to my eyes.

What little warmth there is in my cold, troll heart, turns into a raging flame.

I'll miss toonami. And i'll never watch cartoon network again.....

Well, excluding a few shows on adult swim once or twice a week. I have to get in my weekly does of Dethklok.

My first anime was on Sci-Fi Channels anime show (The anime with the monster who was all black, with a little white face that shoots out of the middle of his forehead) on Sunday mornings, but I remember watching Toonami all the time.

Adult swim is when I really started enjoying my Anime - Outlaw Star, and Cowboy Bebop specifically (I like the space-outlaw theme a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot).

...You people talk of Toonami but leave out the most obvious show. I am disappointed:

Man, I remember when Toonami first got started, with Dragon Ball Z, Gundam Wing, motherfuckin' Voltron, those were good times.

I loved that show. Forgot it was on Toonami, though.
Mmmgghhh... Samurai Jack and Rurouni Kenshin were my dad's favorite shows to watch with me... after that were DBZ and Yu Yu Hakusho (watching that one on YouTube now). Miss those days, sucked when my parents got divorced and dad and I couldn't do that anymore.

Toonami was by far the most entertaining part of Cartoon Network during it's time but when they killed off the host and made a new one that when the show started sinking the most. I have not seen anything like that happen since. Also DBZ all the way

Oh Cartoon Network, you have gotten so terrible lately. With your reality shows (that are not cartoons if you guys haven't noticed) and comedies that are keyed for the tween/amateur skateboarder that wears really tight pants and laughs at odd comments but not actually funny things....... demographic.

What I REALLY miss about Toonami were the BRILLIANT editing into the intro's and promos they did for their shows. Take the Batman TAS promo. I grew up watching that show- but when they brought it onto Toonami, with original music in the promo, and the noir type editing and voice over narration by Peter fucking Cullen
Holy shit, I was already excited to see a show that I'd already seen many times over, again!

Combine that with really good editing, narration and original (Good!) music throughout the whole block, and you constantly had a feeling that everyone working on production really enjoyed what they were doing and really enjoyed the programming they were putting out as well.
But what I always remember are the promos, the voice of Peter Cullen that still sends shivers down my spine with the gravity of his performance and just how they actually made you want to watch the show. Toonami understood trailers, promotion and presentation to really get kids in my age range at the time really interested.

...huh. Out of curiosity, does anyone even remember Moltar's run on the block?
I do, but I was really young, I didn't even know his name. I just remember his orange helmet and low voice. I always thought that Thunder Cats and Voltron were the best shows ever. Then the schedule change and I was pissed... until Dragon Ball Z or Superfriends started. Yeah bright, colorful lights was all you need when you're 6

I didn't even know what anime was when I first tuned to toonami...it was just awesome cartoons to me.
I remember one night of awesomeness when they showed nothing but music videos, including interstella 5555, which got me into Daft Punk.
