I think almost everyone I know watched Toonami when they got cable. I'd get home from school, cook ramen, and watch as much Toonami as I could handle... I miss Tom.

Toonami was the SHIT. I was so enraged when they moved it from weekdays to Saturdays. Once it was there, it really went downhill. I miss Zoids, Yuyu, Zatch Bell, Bobobo, Gundam etc...

Naruto to an extent since at the end of the toonami cycle before Cartoon Network canned it. It was the only anime infact the only show I can remember that was worth watching.
I mean I really think that's what happened to that block. They relied too much on Naruto as a crutch at the end of it's cycle with no other intreasting anime. I mean Zatch Bell was okay and they got the good dub of One Piece by funmation on for a bit, but...personally they started showing that anime at one of it's very weakest points in the entire series. I mean seriosly nothing of any significance happened during the flying island Arc, it was boring and pointless!
Never the less long live Toonami for what it was. As for cartoons going down in quality. American wise for the most part yeah it really has gone down hill... a lot. I mean the only cartoons I can see as redeming in this sloth we have are.
Ben 10 all the versions, Generator Rex, and Titan AE and thats for the kid show cartoons. American wise there's a few more like Venture Fucking Brothers of course.
As for the statement of anime well I would say yes and no to that. Back in toonmai's day what we got dubbed over here in the states was considered the cream of the crop I really think or continutions of really popular series... like DBGT.... However now with the anime boom and such we pretty much get all the anime they have. Pretty much so they dub it over and we get so we now see anime isn't perfect, nothing is, there are going to be weaker shows and then really awesome shows like Kenichi The Worlds Strongest Disciple!

I was very sad when Toonami finally shut off, even if it was really bad at the end. I remember Steven Blum, as TOM, literally saying a goodbye message at the end of the program block, which took me by surprise because I had not watched it in years.
However, a friend showed me that Toonami: Jetstream is actually alive on the net, and you can watch all the old shows as much as you want. ;]

The way Toonami deteriated was... just... tragic. I remember a time when it played Linkin Park over the adverts and Teen rated shows, like Out Law Star, after 9pm (my word Aisha was sexy). Then they started playing Save by the Bell rip offs from the 70's...
This and the MUTILATION of Bubble Works, at Chesington World of Adventures, into an Imperial Leather advert *criiiiiiiinge* really trashed part of my childhood.

I remeber when Toonami came to Uk, it replaced CNX which was shit. Like Infernai mentioned, Samurai Jack was my favorite. I mean c'mon, a Samurai sent to the future to fight robots and alien bounty hunters, thats every geek's wet dream.
