10 Metal Arms: Glitch in the System
I put this game just on my list because although my copy is currently MIA (sadly), I had a lot of fun with this game. The combat was only sub par, but the story and the writing were a lot of fun, comical, and the levels were challenging and deep in spirit. The multiplayer was fun I bet, if I could ever get my friend to play, but it was an experience that I almost want to go out and buy a new copy just to start playing again, the game was that enjoyable
9 Naruto: Clash of Ninja 2
This game is on the list for nostalgia's sake. When I borrowed the game from my friend, I never knew just HOW much fun I'd have battling as ninjas, and the game became the center of attention of me and my friends, the center of parties and good times. I put it on the list because when I think of this game, I remember all the fun times me and my friends had, and a good game reminds you of happy times and fun things, which this game does for me
8 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Maybe I should mention that I put this game on here because of the multiplayer. The story of the first game was probably one of the best and most epic story modes I've ever played, and I wish I could get my computer to install the copy I got from my friend to replay it. MW2 doesn't give me that super story mode, only an average one, though the co-op missions are fun to play with my friend. But the online, while sometimes frustrating when you're in a funk, has made me laugh at some great moments, like when some guy tried to get a funny final kill, but I killed him and the guy who was letting him get the kill, then not too long later I got a predator and killed them both AGAIN and almost won the match, or when you hit those streaks you can't believe you're hitting. The fact that I rent it for free at work is the ONLY reason that I don't own my own copy yet, keyword, YET
7 Tales of Symphonia
This game is the perfect example of a long game that has a LOT of re playability. The amount of secrets and extras in it mean you have to play through it again just to get all the extra fun bits that litter the game. The story is a bit confusing I'll admit, but at the same time, mirrors how people really act, thinking they're always right. Combat was designed well and since I'm soon going back to playing all my games all the way through on new files, I'm excited to play ToS again soon, it's a great game that's just a lot of fun to play
6 Sly 2: Band of thieves
I LOVE the entire Sly Cooper series. I still need to get the 1st game, but it was the 2nd game that I first tried at a friend's house and fell in love with it, and when I found it cheap to buy, I snagged it so quickly. The 3rd game was still a lot of fun, but the scale and sheer win of the 2nd game was still in my mind. Murray and Bentley and Sly all had different feels, and I loved how silly yet serious the game was overall. The best part was that even though it was made of a lot of little missions, they were always fun and weren't the same thing over and over, they were all really well made and even similar games were entirely. Plus, running around with Sly and pickpocketing guards then taking them out, hiding, then doing it over and over again was really fun, as was destroying everything as Murray, and Bentley was fun to use and blow stuff up with. The missions were all very well crafted and felt like the successful run of a Rube Goldberg machine, fantastically fantastic
5 Shadow of the Colossus
This is a great game. The game was obnoxious to try and figure out, but it was a game that made you feel a lot better about yourself when you figured out the puzzle the game gave you. The sheer epic feel was nice, and the landscapes you traversed detailed and beautiful to view, and the game made you feel just a little more evil everytime you killed a Colossi, which is ironic if you've beaten the game. The setting of a huge empty world with only wandering giant statues that moved both scared yet excited me, to the point that I'm glad I picked up my own copy to buy recently so I can play it again soon
4 Super Smash Bros Melee
This was a hard choice, since I love Brawl. However, although I never Wave dashed or anything, Melee wins because I had more time with it, and again, like Naruto was the center of my manly get togethers with my friends. Though that doesn't mean I don't remember all the times I've played the computers, or just erased my old data just to unlock everything all over again, playing the modes and challenges and getting worked up as I tried to beat them with that stupid character I never used. I've probably logged more game time on this game than any other game to boot, including my number 1 choice. It's a game I could play alone or with a friend, and though has a new, shinier model, I'll never forget the installment that made me fall in love with the series to the point of eroticism
3 Pokemon: Silver Version
This is another nostalgia game. I remember the Christmas I got my Gameboy Color along with my Silver version, my sister getting her own GBC and Gold Version. It is the best Pokemon game ever in my eyes, and was the only real sequel, having the original land playable while adding new things. It wasn't just a new journey, but the original with the additions that make a sequel. A healthy addition to the pokedex with the best gen. of pokemon ever, great gameplay mechanics, and just fun levels to explore, along with innovations I'm surprised they tossed aside. I do want to point out that I love SoulSilver, and would give it a spot here, but Silver inspired it, and without the win that was the Silver/Gold versions, the remakes wouldn't be possible
2 God of War III:
It JUST came out 2 days ago, but the 10 some hours I've logged on Titan mode have been among the best moments I've had playing video games. The game I admit, had me a LITTLE worried at the very beginning, where while the story and scene were set, the opening cinematics moving me close to tears, but the game didn't set in for me until I witnessed the death of Posiden through his own eyes, watching Kratos take up his field of view as he was beat until his eyes were poked out and he finally bled out, the first of the many gods that you get to kill. Battling everything and anything in the game has made me furious, made me smile and laugh sadistically as I rip everything apart, but it's never stopped being fun (unless you count those FUCKING Satyrs!!!! Motherfuckers...
1 Resident Evil 4:
I make RE4 my favorite game of all time because it's one of the few I can play as many times as I have and still want more. I've beaten the game countless numbers of times, and everytime I played was just as fun as the last. Sure I can get killed by the fucking boulder run QTE part, but the game never stopped being super fun, and the more I think about it, the more I want to get a Wii or GC to start playing it again
Honorable mentions
Infamous: A fun game, from Sucker Punch, the creators of Sly Cooper series. It was a fun game, but hasn't held the same power that the listed games above held for me as of now
Dark Void: This game hasn't gotten that fair of a chance, as I've only played about 2 hours of it while at work, but the time I spent with it inspired me to enjoy gaming that had felt bland and disappointing. It's also made me wonder if I should stick more to 3rd person games, and also, if Halo Reach does the jet pack well, if I should save up to get a 360 for it...and eventually online maybe someday to play with it, but it was a fun game that deserves credit for that
Heavy Rain: I thought that this game was so fantastic. Sure, it was nothing but QTEs, but it did it well. The game had you so immersed in it for me that I acted without thinking sometimes, and had me as worried, happy, sad, angry, or afraid as the characters I played as. It wasn't top 10 of all time for me, but still worth mentioning that even games that don't have you play as crazy powerful Kratos' can still be super fun. And I was actually suprised at the killer, I didn't see it coming (so I'm thick or it did it's job that well for me)
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare: As I said, it has one of the best story campaigns I've ever played. However, the multiplayer of MW2 has given me more enjoyment longer, and while I loved the story, it ends, while multiplayer of MW2 is still going on and I find popping in when I need a break or when I have a little time to spend having fun. I still love CoD4 and think that it was a huge success, but MW2 multiplayer sold me on MW2, but just barely
Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth: The entire series is a fun game, crazy fun and super original in my eyes, but it was the Edgeworth game I thought was the best. The series is broken into 2 parts, investigating crime scenes and people's statements for evidence, then countering people's logic and proving them a liar. The reason I put Edgeworth over 2nd place, the 3rd Phoenix Wright game, is because while the 2 parts of the games are fun, the problem in them is there's a lot of time doing each, whereas Edgeworth has it broken into small chunks more often, so you'll investigate a scene, then break some logic, then investigate, more logic, ect, in the time it would take to complete 1 sequence of investigating or logic breaking in the other games
