Yea, I was pretty surprised by a lot of the ranks of those companies. I would have expected a lot of them to be higher than they actually are. (ex. Blizzard, Bethesda)

Hmm, interesting - by net worth or profit? The site doesn't state. I am surprised Blizzard is below Sega, whom seem to focus on Sonic and publishing the Total war series (don't get me wrong, I love Total war, but I don't think it matched WoW in terms of profit).

It bases the figures from sales I think, and only UK sales. Still that is useful data if you extrapolate it out as I expect the US and Euro mainland market to be similar in form if not necessarily in magnitude.

Dunno what would be the status quo in Japan though. They are a bit of a wildcard when it comes to gaming habits.

Yea the article says that it's based on revenues that their products made at UK retail.

I find it moderately hilarious that not only is Nintendo #1, but made twice that of #2.

I would be moving pretty much all of those developers if this was actually based on the quality or even number of games they'd made. I mean Capcom 15th, Valve 58th, BioWare 59th and then Maxis at 7th and Travellers Tales 10th? What the hell is going on there? Something is surely amiss with that.

Is it also really necessary for EA to have 9 entries in that list?

It's wierd that Blizzerd is up that high, and they:
a. Only relesed World of Warcraft in the last few years
b. Are paying people to make the Starcraft 2 games, Diablo 3, and the next WoW exspansion.
c. Go out of the way to show how much money World of Warcraft makes.

Only surprise: Treyarch beat Microsoft Game Studios, and Travellers Tales beat Treyarch. That is an underdog story if I've ever heard one.
