I'm gonna have to make two lists, one drama, one sitcoms. They're just too different to compete.

Drama:

The Wire
Deadwood
Cracker (UK)
Homicide: Life on the Street
The Shield (Only recently started watching this, up to the third series. It's kind of like The Wire-Lite, similar in some ways but just nowhere near as sophisticated, resonant or well written. But it is good to see some true moral ambiguity from a US TV show)

Well, I'd like to say I don't watch a lot of tv, but I do enjoy quite a few primetime shows on various networks.

1. Justified (the writing is top-notch)
2. Chuck (for the inner geek in us all)
3. Castle (Nathan Fillion rules)
4. Burn Notice (who doesn't want to be a spy?)
5. Modern Family (The best sitcom I've seen in a while)
