10. Heavenly Sword - best combat system
9. Mirror's Edge - revolutionary and most unique
8. Okami - beautiful art and gameplay
7. Demon's Souls - ultimate dungeon crawl
6. King's Field 2 - the actual best adventure game
5. Super Metroid - exploration, choices
4. Red Dead Redemption - Greatest story and character
3. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - see below heheh
2. Bioshock - Art and music direction, atmosphere
1. Fallout 3 - Best of everything, too much to explain

LttP - This game is what the Zelda series should have turned out to be. You get to actually EXPLORE and take on dungeons in the order you want. It's still limited in this game, I blame the snes technology, but after LttP the choices began to fall away. Not only that, but you could take on bosses with different tactics, and there were even items/equipment that were entirely optional to pick up. God do I <3 this game and condemn all the Zelda's made afterward. (OoT is good, definitely worth playing, but still not as grand as LttP.)

King's Field - I need to say this as well. If you haven't played this series then you don't know the AMAZING attribute they have that games plainly seem afraid of. When your proficiencies in King's Field as far as weapon ability, you actually got better with that weapon. Use the Crescent Axe long enough, you become slightly faster with it while dealing more damage. The game actually changed as if your character was training. I have yet to experience that in another series. (Note: It was slight and seemed to fade away as the series went on. Hell, Demon's Souls is sorta the predecessor and it does not have this.)

Silent Hill 2
The Witcher 2
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Bioshock
The Longest Journey
Dragonball Z Budokai 3 (partly due to nostalgia, partly due to it being AWESOME!!!)
The Legacy of Kain series (counting all the games together)
Ratchet & Clank (or Jak 3; I can't decide!)

The thread title says "top ten best games ever made", OP says "10 favorite games"... Those aren't necessarily the same thing. There are games that I love that aren't particularly well-made or well-designed. Castle Crashers is one of my top 10 favorite games, but I openly recognize that it's not because it's design principles are good. Hell, I hate games like Gears of War but openly admit they're well designed. In fact, the only favorite of mine that I would consider being one of the best games ever made would be Shadow of the Colossus, which I only say because every element of that game works towards it's single effect, not because it's really fun.

In no particular order...

Chrono Trigger (Ok, this is no. 1 really)

Resident Evil 4 (Wii edition, oddly re-playable)

Fallout NV (Because space lasers are always fun)

TES IV: Oblivion (hundreds of hours of immersion)

The World Ends With You (surprisingly involving combat and interesting story)

Pokémon Black (Because Pokémon)

COD: Modern Warfare (PC, because the thrill of the multiplayer is still something special)

Mass Effect 2 (Because Bioware RPG + shooter mechanics = awesome)

Sonic Adventure 2: Battle (Extreme nostalgia and Chao garden)

... and of course TLOZ: OOT. For reasons I need not go into at this stage.

A little less than that I think all of the games on OP's post are 360 games (pardon me if I'm mistaken), but indeed.

I have played soooo many games, top 10 lists are hard for people who have played as much carp as I have. : /

Bringing the list down to just 10 seems impossible for me. In alphabetical order;

Bionic Commando (NES) (I play through this one at least once a year)
Chrono Trigger (one of, if not the best RPG's ever)
Civilization 3 (by the endgame it usually takes me 1-2 hours to play a single turn...)
Diablo II: Lord of Destruction (don't really care about the multiplayer)
Fallout 3: Game of the year edition (soo much fun to play around in the capital wasteland)
Final Fantasy VII (tough fight between this, IX and VI)
Front Mission 3 (spent over 500 hours of gameplay on this one)
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (I never cared for Miami vice, but this game rocks)
Killer Instinct 2 (the only arcade game I own, getting it into my apartment was a pain though)
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (near perfection)
Mass Effect (the original had more of an impact on me)
Mega Man 3 (Hard choice between this, 2 and X...)
Metal Gear Solid (for all the awesome interactions in the later titles, this one had the most memorable cast)
Realms of Arkania: Star Trail (the only game on the list I haven't actually beaten)
Shadow of the Colossus (one of those games that just stands out from the crowd)
Shadow Warriors (aka Ninja Gaiden Shadow, Gameboy) (a little easy perhaps, but damn fun)
Super Castlevania IV (complete control, awesome soundtrack)
Super Mario Allstars + Super Mario World (might be cheating to pick this collection but I don't care)
Super Metroid (perfection)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time (best beat´em´up ever)

Still feels like too much got left out...
