the trouble with renting is for the most part you need some time to enjoy the game, for example gta4 and fallout 3. So the few days or, in some generous shops, a week is pointless unless you re-rent it at which point you may as well just buy it.

why isnt fallout 3 higher on the list
because if you rent a game, and want to realistically get something out of it, picking a long and epic RPG is probably not the best choice

I know but it's just not Mario Kart Wii without the wheel and it would feel strange to just hold the controller sideways.
The classic and/or Gamecube controller kicks the shit out of the wiimote or wheel in KartWii. Wiimote motion sensing is not nearly as responsive or accurate as an analog stick. And I leave out the nunchuck because it's a half-way move. A full gamepad trumps two chunks of plastic and a wire.
Ah, but with the wiimote you can jump!

Probably because it's such a huge game with so many hours worth of playing time to devote to it, people wouldn't see the point in having it for only a couple of days.
Also, it came out quite late in the year, so not much time to build up rental numbers.

What I would like to point out is

X360 - 36.8% of rentals
Wii - 17.1% of rentals

Total - 53.9% of rentals

So, the PS3 and PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox split the rest.

Assuming PS3 rental volume is higher than any of the last-generation systems (other than maybe ps2), The PS3 accounts for between 11.7%-16% of rentals. (11.7 is the average of the remaining percentage. The 16% is guesswork)

Can do the same on the gamepads (DPad Up/Dn L/R), but more importantly, the whole obsession with jumping I find to be a detriment to racing. Whenever my roommate starts to concentrate on jumping, I always pull ahead of him.
maybe he's not hardcore enough? :p

This may be true, (OK, it is) but considering how impossible it is to take Mario Kart seriously any more, I'd rather just use the wheel and be amused by it.

Why didn't I see a third console from sony there?
You really think a person could only rent LBP or MGS IV?
Actually, yes.
Both of which seem to come down to proving their value through near infinite replay value?
LBP sales aren't higher either though.

I would have thought more Wii games on there but I guess you could just try your nextdoor neighbor's copy of All-Star Cheer Squad.

Who's gonna rent that?
^ Exactly.

I expected Little Big Planet to make the list because people would want to try something so new without dropping 60 bucks on something they aren't sure they'd like.
