I just know one of these gun-toting sociopaths that's WAITING on the apocalypse to happen is coming for my stuff, so I'll stick to what I can carry. A couple of survival guides (specifically with material on what/how to eat and drink, as housing can get pretty self explanatory) some very sturdy hiking boots, and a pair of crowbars long enough to whack a zombie in the head without quiiiiite getting into arms reach. 'Til I can get proper shelter built elsewhere, I'll be hanging onto the trailer and leaving the door just cracked open enough to make it tempting. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised what you find in there, and the animals I sup on for the first little while will be quite pleased to find...well, you, ya' hostile little Texan you. Because you smell pretty.

I'd jury rig my container to be a homemade TARDIS so that it becomes bigger on the inside. And then, realizing I could travel through time and space, I'd have adventures.

I would start with information on construction, farming and metallurgy . Then include some tools and seeds. Finally, i would fill out whats left with as much of mankinds scientific, historical and philosophical past. Some humans will doubtless survive, there are over 6 billion of us XD
And the best works of humanity would still be saved.
Also, because its my container, i would make sure to put all of the stargate series and movies in there along with my favourite sci fi and fantasy books including Lord of the Rings and the Shannara series. And a video recording of me, explaining what the container is for (I basically see it as a GECK from fallout 1&2) why i did it, and why i put in items of personal significance. You can't blame me for wanting people in the future to know a little of who I am

My container would contain nothing but a set of encyclopedias, one Batman comic, a Beatles album, and a run of newspapers that chronicled the events that caused and led to this catastrophe, with and a simple placard that reads, "Please don't forget what came before."

The internet.

If I could find a way to store, preserve and present the internet, little would be lost.

Canned foods to last me (hopefully) long enough to find more to restock the supplies. Ammunition and the matching firearms for them, though also just enough to hopefully last me until I can restock. Tools necessary for every-day survival (knife, cooking supplies). Also: spices. In particular salt, lots of it. Water cannisters for starters and a water purifier. A generator. Gasoline, but on vehicle. It can be traded, and my legs are still good enough. Can I modify the crate so it has solar panels on the outside? That would be handy. A laptop and a storage rack filled with humanities collected knowledge, though also books of importance (medical, mostly and other references necessary for my continued survival). What else? Ah. Soap. Lots of it. Soap and deodorant and toothpaste, all neatly packed and ready to be bartered with.

And last but not least I'll pack my life sized Sam Fisher statue.

stacks and stacks of petri dishes containing CONAN THE BACTERIUIM ( its the nickname for a real type of bacteria which can have information enocoded into, on top of being preety much indistructable) encoded with all the worlds porn... and if there's space left all that other important stuff like science and shit. Rest of space would be a huge mecha with a onboard supercomputer, filled to the brim with food, water, purifiers, solar panels, genrators, and of course GUNS lots of guns and ammo.

The DNA of every living creature on earth. If that doesnt fit, ill get every country to submit 5-10 of their endemic species. Also the seeds of plants that are useful in agriculture and others(forest trees etc).

5 computers with 2 TB internal hard drives, in order to save the current knowledge of the world while saving space. The extra 4 are for backup. 10 external hard drives, with backups of said data. 3 cans of compressed air, to cleans out the computers to prevent dust damage. 5 additional survivors, 3 female and 2 male, to either A) repopulate the Earth, or B)increase odds of surviving attacks. A large quantity of water bottles, and non-perishable food items, for obvious reasons. A set of 5 handguns, 5 assault rifles, and 5 hunting rifles, 1 for each person. A large quantity of ammunition for each of those guns. 10 Monitors to view the data from the computers (almost forgot that I needed them). 10 Sleeping bags, for sleeping. 10 Pillows. A box of sheets and blankets for warmth. 2 sets of basic medical tools, 2 sets of battery powered power tools, 5 first aid kits. 5 Game boy advances, with a 1sqft box of game cartridges. A large quantity of AA batteries, or other necessary batteries. 2 Watches per survivor. Each person will carry them on each arm. A small box of flares. A set of 10 flashlights.
That's all that I can think of, and by the looks of it, the people in the back would be pretty cramped, considering I didn't leave a whole lot of room for them.... oh well.

The advent of computers enables us to store a whole lot of data very easily. As such, I would minimise the books (I love books, this would be a necessary tragedy) to great works of fiction and technical manuals on how to build generators. For the computer I'd have installed, there would be no password login and a picture-guide to getting information. There would also be every tome available in a variety of different languages.

To power this whole shebang, solar panels and a build-your-own wind turbine complete with picture-book instructions.

For transport I'd have two bicycles and plenty of repair supplies for them. One off-road bike, one road bike. As fun as motors are, generating fuel post-apocalypse would be difficult. I could also include an electric scooter due to having a solar generator. Push-bikes are quieter, always an advantage when trying to avoid attention.

Non-perishable foods are fantastic. Mountains of tins would occupy all the available space around the aforementioned stuff. There would also be a couple of can-openers. A custom-built water tank would fit like a doughnut around the inside of the entire container, about 6 inches thick. This would be plumbed down to a tap near the door. There would also be water purification devices like a store of flocculation chemicals, filter equipment (charcoal and sand work well for this, actually), etc. and a roof-mountable series of condensation collectors. These would probably be plates with a well in the centre which extract moisture from the air that then trickles down to a collection tube. Dry-sealed seed stock would be carefully catalogued in a book and added, in sections, to the container. Possibly slung from the roof or tucked away, hidden. Some pots and pans too. A grating to sling over an open fire to make them easier to use.

Camping gear is fantastic. Few sleeping bags, a tent or two, self-inflating sleeping rolls for hiking. Compass and several topographical maps of the area which could help depending on how bad the apocalypse gets. Are we talking nuclear apocalypse or Exterminatus? How about 'nids? Zombies? 'course, you can't tailor-make this.

Self-defence would undoubtedly become an issue. Catching more food too. A hunting bow and a good stock of arrows, along with fletching equipment and detailed instructions. A Japanese master swordsmith-made Katana. Hunting knives, skinning knives and a good pocket knife. I'd also put in all the necessary care and sharpening equipment. Guns are limited by their available ammunition, but I'd still include a hunting rifle and a hand-gun with sizable ammunition stock for each.

I suppose "miscellaneous" covers the next bit. Lots of rope, both natural-fibre and synthetic, of varying weight. Picks and shovels. Some steel buckets. A variety of sizes of bad weather wear and boots. Paper and pens. Large first aid kits including basic surgery equipment for setting bones and removing shrapnel. And of course, instructions. A harmonica. A few steel camp chairs.

That's all I can think of now, I may add more later.

SAXTON HALE!!!

A bible and plenty of water and dehydrated food.
Largely Labyrinth above covered pretty much all the bases (although along those technical diagrams I'd include simple steam engines/turbines, gasoline combustion engines, telescopes, and thorough instructions on the reading and creation of technical drawings.)
Although thinking about it with a single Terabyte drive you'd be able to fit a rather unobjectionable amount of Wikipedia on there.
