Ok, so I've been on the escapist for a few months at least and I've noticed the complete lack of creativity that you guys have. I seem to notice a few repeated topics that people don't seem to realize that we talked about 3 days ago. So here is a few on that list:
-First Game you've ever played or bought (right, because I'm going to buy a game and never play it)
-Biggest badass in history/fiction (most true badasses don't get noticed by twits sitting at their computer talking about Cloud or "Meathead #2 from Gears of War" being badass)
-Gun control posts (ok, while I admit to having commented on several political forums, I will be the first to admit that one will probably never change my viewpoints and I will never change others' viewpoints, so to argue about it online on some forum where everyone can comment is stupid and ridiculous)
-Best villain (I vote bin Laden)
-How stupid Fox News is (yes, we all know Glenn Beck is crazy, however these posts often become political "debates" in which I will refer you to the Gun control posts bullet)
-Most Overrated thing or Underrated thing you like (this usually applies to games, tv shows or sandwich meats; if something is so Over- or Underrated, then why are we still discussing it?)
-Game you will probably never get (This is like asking "which prostitute will you not be sleeping with?" Why would the poster need to know? Unless s/he doesn't actually believe in differing opinions about our favorite things.) (Oh, and the prostitute thing: I generally go for blondes or redheads)
-"Will you help me" posts (Unless it's a legit question for a gaming site like "Which computer should I buy?" or "Which chick should I bang in DA:O?" this is not a site where one puts personal questions that involve girlfriends/boyfriends, personal diseases, or schooltime interactions. This is one of the places I go to get away from that shit. Don't you people have *real friends?!)

So maybe I'm being a bit of an ass but to be honest, I'd like to see a bit of creativity in these posts.

If you have anything to contribute to the list (which you probably do) then post it and your thoughts. Or you can call me an ass then go look at porn or something.

Whenever I get a dejavu moment, I just don't post, simple as that. But don't forget that some people (like me) are still a bit new here and may have not seen a specific topic pass by or aren't here that much. For the part of people asking for advice on something, don't see anything wrong with that. Maybe they just don't want to tell their friends about it or maybe it involves a friend so they can't say anything about it in RL.

I've noticed a few repeats here and there and I don't really mind it to be honest,I'll usually check to see if theres been a thread on a certain topic aready before I make a repeat, but even if the subject has already been made, the discussion will almost always be different.

You know, only my fear of moderators wrath is preventing me from making an entirely new topic titled "Topics that are constantly repeated."

But yeah, it's bound to happen. Sometimes you learn new stuff, so it's not so bad.

Oh and concerning the "will you help me posts" this is off topic discussion which is anything someone feels like talking about or asking, both those questions you used for examples go into the gaming related portion and off topic is for things that aren't gaming,But I'm just being nitpicky.

Some thing about Zero Punctuation comes up every week. Seriously, every week some thread with a video, just a different game.
Wait...

Basically anything with "Badass" in it. Badass characters, badass moments, whatever. Most people just saying who their favourite prick is, or what they've done that's made them look most like a prick.

Best cover of a song

Favorite superhero

Popular stuff you don't like/get (Okay, so you didn't like that classic novel you all had to read in English class. That does NOT mean it's overrated.)

Edit: Threads about why you chose the username/avatar you've got.

Yes, threads get repeated, but that's almost exclusively by people who have only just joined and haven't noticed the common threads around here.

Also, it would get boring pretty quickly if all of the threads were about gaming.

It doesn't have to be about gaming, but it does have to be about something we haven't discussed a thousand times before.

I think people wanting help is fine (obviously ahem). People often do have real friends, but don't want to ask them because a real friend usually has some kind of bias. By asking the internet about a personal issue you get a broader consensus. Someone looking at a situation from the outside often has a broader perspective than someone in closer proximity. It's the old "can't see the forest for the trees" thing at work.

Yes, this is a gaming forum, but that's why we have an off-topic discussion area, to discuss things that are not game-related. As long as forum rules are not broken, I see no problem. No-one should ever be made to feel guilty for posting things they want help with.

If I were to add anything to your list it would be zombie apocalypse and 2012 threads. Hey, I might start a thread now about how Fox news might portray gun control issues during the zombie apocalypse coming in 2012...

To be honest, the search bar isn't too reliable.
*ahem*
the search bar is powered by Google, how could it not be reliable?!?!

if you are not getting the results clearly then you either need to use some commands or make the keywords more clear.

I was absent for about 8 months, but back in the day zombie-plan threads were all the rage.
And this was all orange-groves as far as the eye could see.
