I played Torchlight's demo a while ago, and found it to be quite entertaining, even if I didn't grasp half of the information on-screen. It's 15,99 ? on Steam, which seems quite steep to me, considering it also has been 3,99 during some sales.

I've seen Sacred 2 lying on Gamestop's "Buy 3, pay 2" pc shelf for quite a while now. It's only 9,99 for a full game, so I've been thinking about buying it. The problem is that the reviews I've read are quite mixed, and it seems to have a lot of bugs. But since it was released in 2009, they shoulda patched it up at this point.

Which one is a better Diablo clone? Which one should I buy? Or should I just buy Diablo 2? Or go to hell with this thing and buy Red Alert 3 as I've been planning?

If you have to get one get the Diablo Clone.

Sacred 2 was very very bad.

Torchlight, and it's not even a contest. Sacred 2 is a buggy mess, ugly and poorly designed in every way a game can be. Torchlight is a cute little Diablo clone that's fairly polished and quite fun.

Torchlight, sure its a Diablo clone... but then again its made by the designers and leads of Diablo 1 and 2.
Can't beat having a good game like that.

never played Torchlight but got sacred 2 for my ps3 and it is amazing, so much to do and I love the graphics artstyle. :) also in one quest you get to watch a 6min CGI of the blind Guardian band play and you get their instruments as weapons after it.

watch on youtube the CLASSIC GAME ROOM REVIEWS of Sacred 2.

Sacred 2 aint all that bad but if you bought it for the PC its fuckin horrid, terrbily optimised framerate drops like flies sure I dont have a top-end rig but my god even on low it drags.

Torchlight on the otherhand meh, it's polished but dull no diablo 2 for sure not enough variation can only hack through the same brown tunnels for so long.

Torchlight is polished, but if you're good at games like Diablo 2, Torchlight is going to be very, very easy.

Dear god I love CGR! That review was the reason I bought it for my 360! GREAT game, highly recommended! Can't comment on the PC version though, but games like Sacred 2 are just begging for mods, so I'd hope it has a large modding community. I also LOVED the Blind guardian quests, they're a great band! Never tried Torchlight, but I've heard many, MANY good things about it. I don't think you'd go wrong either way, but my vote goes for Sacred 2.

Here's my take on the two games:

Sacred 2 - Xbox version

Pros: Has a huge world with different locales. Ridable mounts including epic mounts. Has multiplayer.
Cons: Horrid voice acting, music is love it or hate it rock-metal, frequent loading screens in towns.

Torchlight - I've only played the demo but read a ton of reviews as I was going to buy it until I found out there was no multiplayer.

Pros: Very polished and has great graphics/art style.

Cons: The deal breaker for me was the lack of multiplayer. I love spending hours decking out my character to go show off my stuff online. Also, I've read over and over that the game is too easy.

I guess in the end it's up to your preference. Torchlight is a very casual friendly game with a great care of polish- however you spend the entire game in a single dungeon. Sacred 2 is a bit buggy and is very hardcore- there's not even an option to "respec" if you screw up on your build, forcing you to restart a new character. However if you want to play online then you will need to strongly consider Sacred 2.
