So, I just purchased Torchlight from Steam for £3.75 (fuckin' bargain!). Anything I should know? From patches to mods or just some helpful gameplay tips.

Educate me!

Get Torchleech. [http://torchleech.runicgamesfansite.com:7000]

It keeps track of most of the Torchlight mods out there, keeps them updated for you too.

My recommendations being:

Jarcho's Class Compilation mod. [http://www.runicgamesfansite.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=483] Puts pretty much every single custom class in the game at one time, as otherwise you have to disable a custom class in order to activate another (only one allowed at a time). This mod overrides that.

Potion Stacksize
Respec Mod
Merchant Mod
Starch the Monster Hunter
Tier-3 Ancient Items
Faster Walking

Those are the ones I wouldn't play through again without. There are a bajillion other mods on torchleech, with various balanced and wildly unbalanced options. Enjoy :p

Thanks. I'll be sure to get the ones you've mentioned.

DON'T RETIRE.
There's a chest for putting things into for other characters, I was a retard and retired my level 30-40 warrior with full Orange/Purple stuff just to get one gone that had like 500dps to my new rogue.
I enchanted it again and lost bloody everything ¬.¬

Anyway, I suggest getting a Fighting Warrior.
Or, if you're going Alchemist get lots of summoned things.

Install it on every computer you have that younger than 5-10 years. This game runs on anything, basically. It has a fucking netbook mode. IT CAN RUN ON NETBOOKS!

Watch for lag from summon heavy Alchemist builds.

Play through once without any really game-changing mods. Vanilla/Patched version deserves some love, you know? I'd really just use interface mods and the respec mod first run.

Sell shit via your pet frequently, he's not THAT useful in battle.

Learn the "Identify" spell ASAP.
