I loved it. It may be the best series of Torchwood yet. Well, more like best story.

Did you guys know the viewer figures for it lay around 6 million. Thats fucking huge!
"Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang" had 4,22 million viewers, probably becose of James Marsters.

Probably not, Jack may make some Doctor Who appearances as he's going to live to be a million years old if the Face of Boe thing is true.
Nothing has killed him yet, so he probably will make Doctor Who appearances.

He's been seen on set for the Dr Who specials after the waters of mars
I'm looking forward to that special. Does anyone know when it's going to be shown?
early 2010 appaantly

I think the ending was the main difference between Torchwood and Dr Who. In Dr Who, the kid at the end would have been saved by some sort of Deus Ex Machina, but in Torchwood they let it slide.

Overall, it was a rather gripping miniseries. I personally liked the dads at the end standing up to the soldiers. The way of killing the aliens was Dr Who-ish, I must say. But Captain Jack leaving was inevitable, I suppose.
A friend of mine commented on a new series of Torchwood; it would have to be Gwen with an all-new team, most likely knock-off replacements. That would suck.

Christ, that's a long time...
I liked the way they fought the soldiers at the end too. Also, can you imagine Gwen leading Torchwood? She's no Jack...

I did enjoy it, I love Torchwood, but I increasingly hate that kind of plot.
Put it this way:
Alien: Unless you hand over XXXX, we will eliminate your entire species.
Earthling: Alright! We'll hand over...Wait. If you need us to give you this, then that means you can't take it by force?
Alien: Well, no...
Earthling: Then wiping us out means you'll never get what you're after. You are, therefore, in a piss-poor position to be making threats. Right, first things first, hand over your spaceships. And thats just to start.

It really pisses me off that these supposedly ruthless and ingenious politicians not figuring this out. And I really hoped Frobisher would at least tell the vast amounts of press outside his door what was really going on, I liked him for some reason.

i liked it more then any other previous torchwood episodes. I thought the focus on the political side of an alien threat was actually more interesting, and far more belivable as i belive thats how the government would act.. treat the general public like crap whilst trying to make them selves look all high and mighty. Ending how ever was very... rushed in my opinion. It was something like the last 10 mins they had to wrap everything up and left so much unanswered...

I stoppped watching Torchwood after they killede off Owen... Plus the fact that the first Torchwood ep I saw was the second one. With my mother in the room. Oh the mental scars. Especially since she was more interested in it than I was...

If you've seen the second episode, you'll KNOW that this is aimed at a more, mature, audience... That's why there is such a difference in styles. That and the fact Jack ain't no Timelord...

You are obviously forgetting "Sarah Jane Adventures", categoically the most cheap and vile attempt to milk the Doctor Who cash cow. She's dreadful and the kids are no better. I know it's a children's show but God help us all.

As for Torchwood, I really enjoyed the series as it kept the suspense up throughout. The problem was the ending, with 20 minutes to go in the final episode everything was still going to hell and you know it's a rush job ending in those circumstances. I know they were trying to maintain the mystique of the 456 but we never knew anything about it, what it was capable of, so its ability to suddenly release a virus seemed very convenient.

My feeling is:
With Ianto dead and Jack run away, Gwen will probably try and re-adjust but won't be able to and will reform an ad-hoc Torchwood with what resources she has left. They'll plod along coping as best they can until they come up against something big, which is when she'll try and contact Jack, and bring him back in. Or they'll get one extra use out of Tennant and they'll have a heart to heart where the Doctor shows him where he's needed most (Gwen's makeshift Torchwood). The upshot is Myles and Barrowman will be back (a good thing) but they'll lump us with brand new characters without any buildup to their inclusion, with backstories they can milk episodes out of.

I'm praying one of these is not Freema Agyeman (Martha Jones) the worst actor in the franchise by a long way and undoubtedly a contender for worst companion. But that's a rant for another day...

I liked it a lot, I felt it was really intense, thrilling situation, and John Barrowman was actually an alright actor for this one.

My only problem is that for about 4 and a half episodes we have this political sci-fi thriller and we never really get round to fighting the alien till episode 5.

Also I felt that certain characters were introduced who should massivly shake up the Torchwood Universe only to be killed off.

Still, very compelling and brilliant.

I enjoyed it, but I always wondered, why didn't they just open the door to the aliens container?

And why was the glass for the container bulletproof? It was almost like they were determined to protect the alien.

I saw the last part come on telly, thought "ohh theres the nice dark aliens they've given up on in Dr Who", watched them set the scene (they want our children) and... erm... then I fell asleep (not a comment, it just happened)

Torchwood is a spin off with the Captain Jack character. Think Unit crossed with the lone horsemen

The format grew on me but I must say I would rather have had a full series.
Also as if it being cut to five episodes wasn't evidence enough the ending proved that the BBC is trying to get rid of Torchwood.

On the whole it varied between annoying and brilliant and settled somewhere in between overall.

(Am I the only one who noticed the gazillions of plotholes in the final episode)

ah i never saw the sarah jane connor chronicals, because i hated her...
i don't see why everyone hates martha, i thought she was brilliant! i really hope she does find a way back in to the series somehow...
