Good news for game devs as Torque 3D is going to be released on Github under the MIT license.

"Eleven years ago, The GarageGames founders did an incredibly innovative thing when they sold a full source game engine for $100. We are excited to continue in their footsteps by announcing that we will be releasing Torque 3D as the best open source game technology in the world. Once again, GarageGames will be changing game development."

This is some pretty exciting news for indie developers or even modders looking to branch out into actual game design without any monetary investment. Sure it's not as advanced as Cryengine 3 but it's easy enough to use for beginners. However, with other development tools such as Unity or UDK around, it's hard to say how many people will actually use it.

Some games that use Torque:

- Tribes 2

- Penny Arcade Adventures and

- S.P.A.Z.

- Frozen Synapse

Sweet, I really hope that someone big in industry adopts this and gets some decent game engines going on Linux. I know that Unity4 will have support, but the more decent engines, the better the competition.
