I assume this post has already appeared on these forums somewhere, so I apologise for both being original or detracting from the previous post.

I'm quite excited for Shogun 2, but I'd have loved another Rome (Classicist to the core). Was there any other period of history or theatre of war that people would have been keen to see, and why?

I wouldn't have minded an official foray into the Civil War, since nearly every Total War has had a mod already do it. Shogun 2 looks pretty much like "Shogun, but all the clearly romanticized and mythological elements removed for a more realistic game" so I can take or leave that.

I wouldn't mind an expansion to either Empire or Napoleon that outfits the entire world, including East Asia into the global fray, or lets you play as a minor nation... I miss that from Medieval 2.

I would have liked another Rome too, been wanting to play that a couple of times recently. Overall, I'd have to say Medieval II has been my favourite, I've not taken kindly to the change to firearm based combat.

I can see this, I can honestly say that I mostly enjoy the change into firearm combat because I understand military tactics from the 1700s to the proto trench warfare of the Civil War better than medieval combat.

I guess it's way too soon for a new Medieval, though Medieval 2 was my favorite of the series.
I've never played the first Shogun, so the second one will be all new and fancy. Looking forward to it.

An American Civil War game would probably be the absolute latest time period Total War gameplay could work....and it would be AWESOME.

Stone age. Only joking, but maybe Renaissance warfare would be good.

Hummm.... Well. I'd like a slightly similar time period to Shogun 2, but in the West. Elizabethan type, you've got the main European players and early colonisation to the Americas. It'd be a mixish of Empire and Med 2 too much, though, and they want variety in the times their games cover.

Interesting units, an echo of Roman, with a tinge of early medieval.

A proper world sized game out be nice, Empire did a bit of it but needed a large scope and exploration into the meeting of different cultures.

I don't have any particular favourite but Three Kingdoms era China might be a good follow up to Shogun.
