Should I get the Nepoleon verson, or the older one?

By 'the older one' do you mean Empire or one of the other titles in the line (Shogun, Medieval, Rome, Medieval 2)?

If you mean Empire, no, go with Napoleon.

Go with Rome or Medieval 2, the modding made them far outstrip Empire in replay value.

However, my favourite was always Medieval 2.

M2 was great once they fixed the little problems with cav charges not working and the AI bug about being pincushioned.

Medieval 2 is great fun. The Pope is a great addition, mainly because it makes you feel all-powerful and godly when you're big enough to screw him around. You can play it the other way too, and help the Papal States become the world superpower.
