Wow, and after this infamous tweet [https://twitter.com/Totalbiscuit/status/128836571297349632] where he tells someone else to get cancer and die.

That's something I guess. Wish him the best and all, even if I don't particularly like him.
I don't get why people feel the need to post this. The guy made a stupid immature comment (being an human and all we tend to screw up at times) and if he was still doing it I would totally agree with bringing it up but doesn't look like he has or more screen caps/links would show up.

It looks like he learned from his mistake and hasn't done it again. If someone has learned from their mistake it should be left in the past. the past should be the past.

Or at least add more context to the post. https://twitter.com/Totalbiscuit/status/329766440850837505

while we didn't see him say the words I'm sorry from the comments looks like they would of patched things up in email

Dysplasia is not yet cancerous, so he is fairly lucky he caught it as early as they did.

Really wish him all the best.
Exactly this, he does not have stage 1 bowel cancer and thus does not have cancer.
If he did not get the polyp removed it would likely develop into cancer. Luckily, he caught it early enough and should be fine after surgery.

I can't speak for others, but i'm 25 and never see doctors , even though i live in canada and healthcare is free. I don't really expect to live past 40, but it doesn't really bother me. The only thing worst than dying, is knowing you are going to die.
Same, until January then bam, cancer + metastasis.

OT: I really wish it didn't take a cringe worthy youtube "celebrity" to raise awareness for this kind of stuff, but I guess that is the case.
Probably because that's what it usually takes for the young yuppies to actually pay attention to these kinds of things. Older teenagers and young adults in the 20-30 range don't really think about cancer or certain diseases that may be common in their heredity because they still cling to that feeling of immortality they had when they were adolescents without a care in the world. It takes someone that they enjoy watching or talking about, namely these "youtube celebrities" (who are generally more down-to-earth than Hollywood celebrities), getting serious inflictions like this to actually drive the notion home that cancer isn't just an "old person's disease".

Nevertheless, reading some of the previous comments on this thread really makes me wonder about this community. A good majority of you guys are still relatively young, yet you're talking about death like you're in a nursing home. Also, for those of you who have the convenience of "affordable healthcare", you're a damn fool if you don't take advantage of it and get regular check-ups or physicals to make sure everything is working properly. Granted I'm not too surprised that TB would get something like this, given his track record of bodily ailments stemming forth from his career choice, it almost seems par for the course however nefarious that sounds. Nevertheless, I hope he has a speedy recovery from this issue and can get back to his old self again soon.

If I may nitpick though, I don't really see how this is gaming related. Yeah TB is a big name in the world of games, but the topic itself really is not. I don't want to sound preachy here, but I really don't think it should have been made at all. If you want to spread awareness of the dangers of Colon Cancer or even the various diseases that afflict the Gastrointestinal tract, I would think it'd be in much higher esteem if you didn't use specific people as springboards for conversation. It just doesn't seem very fair to the person in question. After all, we're all humans, we all can get cancer and most of us will get a form of it sometime in our lives. So there's really no sense in highlighting the misfortunes of certain people just because a lot of people know who they are and what they do. I mean hell, you wouldn't want your friends spilling to their whole Facebook friends list that you have to get a colonoscopy because the doctor you went to see thinks you might have a hemorrhoid or a potentially cancerous polyp. I know this may seem a moot point seeing as how he willingly put this information up on the Internet (in a VLOG no less), but I have a feeling he doesn't exactly want it plastered on every gaming site simply because he's TotalBiscuit. But that's just my opinion, take it as you will.

Gonna be honest, this video probably scared me straight in that aspect. I've actually had blood in my stool for quite a while now (As in, significant amounts of time. Probably over half a year), and I haven't actually mentioned it to anyone yet due to the headlogic of 'well I don't feel that bad, and I haven't dropped dead yet. Probably nothing. What kind of problem could this be, anyway? I'm 18. Probably just my shitty eating habits.'
Bright blood in the stool or on toilet paper usually indicates hemorrhoids, anal fissures or in the worst case rectal inflammation(most likely Colitis). Annoying and you should definitely see a doctor but it won't threaten your life. Mucus during bowel movements like TB mentioned in his vlog is also non-specific, and can indicate anything from polyps to inflammation to irritable bowel syndrome. Again it depends on the color. Smelly darkish mucus usually indicates something serious while bright mucus usually indicates an irritated bowel(which is harmless). The large intestine continually produces mucus to protect the intestinal lining and some people produce more than others, so passing mucus in and of itself usually isn't reason for concern.

Dark(occult) blood is major reason for concern though, as it is blood that originates from higher up in the colon and might indicate cancer or other potentially life threatening diseases. Other red flags when you should run to the doctor asap are loss of appetite, fever, weight loss or sudden onset and progressively worsening of symptoms. Though I imagine that probably isn't your case.

Unfortunately I suffered from bowel problems for half my life and its definitely(literally) a pain in the ass. Also I'm not gonna lie: a sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy is certainly invasive. They usually don't knock you out like they did with TB. I could actually see my insides on a screen while they were shoving that tube down my butthole. Ofcourse, an invasive test stands in no comparison to any potentially untreated diseases or ruling out serious causes.

Also, I think its good of TB that he raises awareness of bowel cancer in young people but its also extremely rare. So have it checked but don't stress out when there is blood in the stool. It's most likely hemorrhoids or a small tear. Both of which are easily treated.

We all tend to "screw up at times"?

No, forgetting to do your homework is "screwing up at times," telling someone to "get cancer and die" is something only a complete shithead would do.

Keep in mind, he is a grown man, not some 13 year old punk trying to look edgy. An adult should know how to fucking act. And he has done this multiple times.

That's insanely lucky. That is, that he caught it so early.

I do, however, think it's pretty weird how one half of this vlog is the usual stuff, and then he abruplty shifts to "bai the way guises I hav bowel cancer".

I don't really like his videos (I could sit through them though), but I hope he makes it through this.

Gosh, how terrible [sup][sub]if true[/sub][/sup].

I mean, he can't even use the excuse of being emotionally compromised about literally any significant event that was currently happening in his life, can he?

Oh.

TB's entire stated purpose in creating that VLOG was to spread awareness. He's cognizant of the fact that he's surrendering his privacy in order to do so. I'm sure he'd be 100% okay with it.

To be fair, that was around 4 years ago after being told his wife and kid couldn't visit from the US after jumping through hoops for immigration and a bunch of people jumped on him and mocked him for it. Admittedly it was handled terribly by him and he's admitted it was, but everyone will snap after enough shit comes their way.

He tweeted today about those angry tweets he made.

https://twitter.com/Totalbiscuit/status/470027570889506816

I think it's quite easy to understand from that how it ended up happening, and I think many people would have snapped under those circumstances too.

Really? Chucking at the "misfortune" of someone being diagnosed with cancer? How exactly is that not worse than those things he said to people?

Jesus. People amaze me. I don't care what someone said on Twitter, nobody deserves to be diagnosed with this or have someone close to them diagnosed with it. Maybe when you all inevitably have to face this disease in some way years from now (and trust me, you will, so "laugh at others' misfortune" while you can) you'll come to understand that, and you'll look back on your own posts in this thread the way you look back at his old comments to others.
