Woah, a curfew? As in: you get arrested for walking the streets at night?

I thought that for such thing to happen there need to be tanks on the streets.
It's actually pretty common in America.
Words fail me.

OT: What a waste of money, police time, and basic rights.
I'm pretty sure the first time I found out about it I had the same reaction. I'd been watching an episode of Pokémon with my brother where Nurse Joy talked about a curfew, and we laughed our heads off. The next day, I see three threads on this site about them.

They shouldn't be legal.
Especially in America; the amount of stuff they shit themselves over and yet they have town curfews which you can be arrested for?

Only curfews I've seen were enforced for people only under 18.

If your curfews are for adults and kids its pretty stupid, since I'm sure there's a couple people who have to work night shifts. But if its just for kids, then whatev's. The fuck would kids be doing out on the streets at 12 - 7 AM anyway?

Well, there's your problem right there.

In all seriousness though... that's messed up. A curfew on minors is one thing... but grown adults? You should really move out of there and find yourself a town that realizes it isn't the 1950's still. Or better yet, try to organize a mass protest to wake your town up to the fact that it isn't the 1950's anymore.

I mean, really... how is that even legal, short of martial law? Unless the town voted in favor of it... in which case... why the hell would the town vote in favor of it, and why are you still there?

Wow, only time we had a town curfew was after the recent tornadoes that ripped through our town(April tornadoes through Alabama to be exact). Had to be indoors by nightfall or else 3:<

Theres a curfew here where i live. its for anyone under 18 where after 11pm they are not supposed to be out an about. It is rarely enforced, on a city wide level when the 2 local highschools play games against each other or something like that is usualy about it and then its announced in the paper that it will be strictly enforced, no questions asked. the rest of the time its pretty much just if the kids are acting up or looking very suspicious that they will enforce it.

There are exceptions like when the schools have a dance where the curfew is pushed back to 1 am for students that attended, we have a couple 24 hour restraunts that some go to after the dance. Also if you go to the local movie theater if the movie ends after 11 then its 2 extra hours from when the movie ended, again so you can grab food on the way home. but in either case you will need proof if a police officer decides to question you.

Prior to the curfew there was more vandalism and petty burgalry and cars being broke into. so it does help even if it restricts the teens.

This reminds me of martial law. Never seen it myself. Despite that, maybe there is a really high crime rate or a lack of manpower in the police department. Wouldn't know why anyone would invoke a curfew anyway.
