Trade-in Rules

I'm preparing to trade in about 10 games that I don't play anymore, and as I think about what other games i wanna trade in right now (best buy gives you an extra 30% for trading in 3 or more at once) and kind of laying down rules for myself. I really only have two franchises I won't trade in because I enjoy playing them over and over again: Gears of War and Uncharted (yes I have both systems; I don't discriminate!).

So I was wondering, do my fellow escapists have any rules when trading in games? If so what are they and why do you hang on to certain games?

I only trade in games that I know I will never play again and I know are actually worth trading in (for instance, I won't play the original Assassin's Creed ever again, but I probably won't get more than 2 quid for it).

That reminds me...

Need to get around to trading in Brink.

I made the mistake of trading in Kingdom Hearts, years ago.

Then I got a massive urge to play it again so I ended up rebuying it (I was young and stupid, don't judge me).

As it is now, I very rarely trade games in, simply because I buy games that I know I will enjoy.

There are exceptions of course...

I trade in Silent Hill 3 once, bigest mistake of my life.

I wouldn't trade any of my PS2 games even if i don't play them.

Generally games with alot of replay value or good multi-player (AC: Brotherhood, Fallout, Gran Turismo, CoD/Halo etc.) I hang-on to.

Games with fairly linear campaigns and no multi-player like Arkham Asylum and Deus Ex I will either rent or trade back in after the first playthrough and trophy hunting is finished.

I'll trade in 360 games, but I want a nice big collection of PS2 games so I never trade those. I never trade in collectors editions except Fable 3 (kept all the stuff). And I never trade in the Condemned series.

Pretty much this, I've even done the whole re-buy the game thing too.

But now that I have an income I don't have to trade in some of the games I liked anymore. I'll still buy pre-owned though, because while I do have an income, I'm not made of money.

Okay first of all, you are one white son of a ***** ain't ya?
Can't really think of any rules besides don't turn in disks that are unreadable or with damaged boxes. That's just rude.
lol how did you know! i have a bunch of cracker friends too /sarcasm

I've done that more than once. At least you were able to rebuy it.

My only trade-in rule is that I don't trade in games. This isn't for any kind of moral reason (in fact I think the whole "pre-owned games are eviilll!" thing is rediculous), it's just because the pitiful amount of money I could get from my games wouldn't be worth giving up the opportunity to replay them for.
