Her puns don't bother me that much. Watched enough Spiderman that I got immune to corn.

Hm. Well, the writing certainly isn't Tolkien, and the fighting looks like they decided cutting out a quarter of the frames would make it more awesome for some silly reason, and...I dunno, there's something just not right with Batman's face, I feel. It's too smooth, too plastic like. Or maybe that's just because I got used to the stubble he had by the end of Arkham Asylum. Whatever the case though, the game still looks fun. I'm curious if it's gonna be somewhat like Assassin's Creed 1 with the side missions though; a few choices to choose from, Interrogate, Steal, Rescue, Bribe, and then move on to the mission itself. Kinda got that vibe for a few seconds. Still gonna buy it, whatever the case. Fun fun fun Batman. Fun.

And once again the Batman is the blandest character in his own game. Such a shame. And he can be so awesome you know, just read The Dark Knight Returns. He can be as mad as the rest of them, instead of a stoic martial arts robot.

Besides, I thought the point of Batman is that he's the only sane man in a world of psychopaths. Which is ironic for a dude in a bat costume. But in any case it wouldn't be Batman if he wasn't grim and straight-laced.

Yeah, he's pretty old in that. But Bats doesn't have to be old to have the personality he has in The Dark Knight Returns. But I actually liked the point of TDKR; you have to be just as crazy as the crazies to stop them.

I don't think that's the first comic to have that theme either, and I much prefer it over the Arkham Asylum (that is the game, the comic is soooo different) robo-Batman. It's nice if he, y'know, has an actual personality.

But I suppose that if they can use the stoicness to make him a more interesting character, like Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop, I'd be satisfied as well. As long as he isn't just plain boring and overshadowed by everyone else.

Not gonna watch because I want to avoid all hype and spoilers for the game...but I can't wait for this...goty imo.

Go ahead and watch, it doesn't show anything that hasn't been said in basic "get you interested" magazine previews. They edit out any plot points by masking them backwards (only happens like twice, anyway,) and it seems to be the very beginning. It'll give you a feel for the game and leave you waiting for more! (at least that's how it was for me.)

Is it just me, or does catwoman seem kind of retarded in this? I mean, Joker came about a second away from putting a bullet in her brain, Batman saves her, and she doesn't even react or change her tone of voice. She just acts all confident and self assured, like she was the one who noticed the laser when she clearly did not.

Not nearly enough to spoil what is shaping up to be an amazing game, but that one scene was a little silly.

Looks like I've found my Autumn pre-order, it'll be better than MW3 anyways...

There are ENTIRELY too many epic games coming out between October and April. Off the top of my head, there's gonna be:

Batman AC, Uncharted 3, Assassin's Creed Revelations, MW3, Skyrim, Ratchet and Clank, Max Payne 3, Battlefield 3, Resistance 3, Catherine, Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection, Ninja Gaiden 3, Mass Effect 3, Bioshock Infinite etc.

It will actually hurt me not to play some of these as soon as they come out because I will be too busy with the other awesome releases.

EDIT: Wow I just noticed there are a hell of a lot of games ending with 3 in there.

Seeing the Catwoman cutscenes first hand is enough to convince me to NOT pre-order this...

Playing as the Joker in Arkham Asylum was pretty disappointing because the combat was near identical as it was for Batman. Granted, it was a small extra and I wouldn't expect them to change the whole combat system around for it, but Catwoman is going to be a part of the main storyline! By the looks of it, her combat is going to feel the same as Batman only with less toys, plus her dialog is annoying.

If you want to have her as an important part of the story, fine, but why make us play as her? In the scene we just watched, why not just have you play as Batman and save Catwoman without having to play the scene with her breaking into the safe? It wouldn't take anything away from the plot at all. I guess it could just be in there to artificially add length to the game.

The only other sensible reason I can think of for having her around is for sex appeal, but her costume isn't that sexy compared to, say, Ivy in Arkham Asylum. Plus she can add sex appeal without being playable.

Part of what made Arkham Asylum so great was feeling like you're Batman. I'm really afraid that forcing me to swap characters will take me out of that. If I wanted to play as Catwoman I'd go play Lego Batman... that way I wouldn't have to listen to her awful puns.

On the plus side, I'm really liking how the sections of Batman gliding and grappling around the city look. Hopefully the Catwoman sections will be minimal and everything from the first game will be even better, but I'm going to wait for the reviews before giving up my $60.

I just have to say that I love what I've seen here. I also love Catwoman's outfit. It's defenitley risque and plays off her sexuality, but it is a practical outfit. It's certainly better than the costume in the Catwoman movie.

Being fair, in most iterations, the Rogues Gallery was always more interesting than the Batman himself. Frankly, I feel that dynamic works. A straight man makes a crazy guy seem crazier, after all. If Batman was getting angry and losing his cool, I feel the entire cast would suffer.

To everyone complaining about this and bad dialogue in general: keep in mind this is 12 minutes of an advertised 25-hour campaign. This happens to be exactly 0.8% (or 1/125 if you prefer) of the story mode alone. Nothing can be said about a whole work based on such a small sample, save for "Okay, so the player can do X at some point in the game".

2)When Batman takes out the ONE guy with the gun 50 people get frightend and run away like wusses not realizing that Batman only stands a chance against 10 guys at once.

I take it you didn't play the first game? They give you a room of 20 mooks, and it's easy enough to not so much as take a hit.

One of the (non-DLC IIRC) bonuses puts you in a room slightly smaller than that courthouse, and sends wave after wave of enemies at you (not really divided into waves really, as they constantly spawn more) until you die. Keeping that in mind, all those guys would be cake.

And the ones that ran probably knew that.

It wasn't so much his dialogue, it was just his stone-faced, almost zombie-like demeanor. I honestly doubt that'll change that much from Arkham Asylum. I hope to be proven wrong of course, but I doubt we'll see my favourite kind of Batman; the Dark Knight Returns sort of Batman.

Which reminds me, only in The Dark Knight Returns did the Batarangs do what I always thought them to do; act as shurikens.
