Is this what the gameplay is like? Guess I won't be wasting my money then, this looks incredibly boring and repetative.

That was insaaaaaaane. Though I bet it'll be a lot less frantic and insane when you are actually playing it compared to a trailer where they cut from clip to clip quickly.

Still, though... giant murdering baby. You've piqued my interest, Catherine, I'll give you that.

this has got to be the first game where ALL of the selling points are entirely summed up in the ESRB classification summary.

Why does this game get so much attention from the escapist? Seriously, weird Japanese games are a dime a dozen so I don't understand why the escapist needs to post every little thing that has to do with this game.

I come back from a week without internet to be greeted by a Catherine trailer. This pleases me. Versus looks really fun.

The whole themes of relationship/sexuality/cheating dealt with in subconscious nightmares seem genuinely interesting, and I like the surreal art deco style; but I'm not sure a reverse game of Tetris will be enough to keep me interested in it to the end.

High-profile American releases of such games created by a major developer (already internationally known for the Persona series) aren't too common though.

If you think a crappy block puzzle game is a good metaphor for a relationship, you are doing it wrong.

I'm not too sure about this. I want the game for its story, but the gameplay looks terribly uninteresting to me.

Try the demo on Live or PSN. I'm not that excited about the puzzle gameplay portions either but decided it should be fun on easy (or super easy because it was actually pretty intense, lol) based on the demo.

OOof. Ouch. Sorry Atlus. I've bought a lot of your weird games and yes, I have loved even ones that I didn't expect to, but this....nope. Maybe it's because it just seems so much like Steal Princess? Maybe because I don't want to learn what the Atlus opinon is about relationships? I don't honestly know exactly what but while I love your other stuff this just turns me off like a switch.

They want full price for that?

That's a freakin' flash game I can play for free...
That's what I was thinking. I cannot understand how a game can hinge entirely on its story / characters. The gameplay element needs to be the most substantial element to a game, IMO.

Of course, I don't understand this sort of an opinion, but good for the people who do enjoy these kind of games. (This was also why I traded in LA Noire).
Gameplay can tie directly into the storyline, which sometimes makes it more fun. However, LA Noire didn't have strong story or characters at all despite completely relying on them and integrating them into the questioning. Catherine looks like it doesn't tie the two together so much despite a few decision moments.

Did you even try the demo? and where to you get Steal Princess? i think your just wanting to avoid it to avoid it. Whatever floats your boat kiddo.

Man what is with people spouting off nonsense when they didn't even try the game. -_-

I remember the first time I saw the gameplay for this game. I really didn't understand the hype then. I noticed the symbolism but um. How does it make this game interesting? Because it's strange? Hmm. If you like the puzzle elements and your one of those people who got genuinely freaked out by story of the blanks then I guess this game is probably a cool buy.

Otherwise it's overhyped and oversexualized for whats going to actually take place in the bulk of the game.

If i'm going to play a game that involves climbing I'd rather play as an Eskimo then some idiot in his underwear.
