From what I've seen, heard and read it looks like you won't be mowing down dozens of zombies in one slash like in left 4 dead. They just don't go down that easily and you have to manage a fatigue bar too so I suspect a group of "only" 6 or 7 may be a pretty big deal.Beat14 said:I will probably buy this game, but I would like to see a few more zombies on screen, not left 4 dead style, but more than 5. Most the time you don't really seem to see that many. I haven't watched all the footage of this game, but the smallish number of zombies and annoying hud are the only things I don't like about it from what I have seen. Hope it lives up to some of my expectations.

Yeah, I do hope to see a few more stumbling around, didn't really think about how it might start to increase in difficulty later on in the game. I never thought that it would turn out like L4D but seeing that you've heard and read that it won't encourages me to think it's going to be great (can I blame you now when my expectation aren't metbliebblob said:From what I've seen, heard and read it looks like you won't be mowing down dozens of zombies in one slash like in left 4 dead. Than again all footage seems to be from early in the game and they did say your character gets stronger. So maybe the gameworld scales and you'll be killing them by droves later on.
Ahah! You just fell for my trap! You see I never claimed to have any idea what I am talking about, just that I suspect these things.Beat14 said:Yeah, I do hope to see a few more stumbling around, didn't really think about how it might start to increase in difficulty later on in the game. I'm very curious to see how atmospheric the game is, not too bothered if it's not, after all it's coop and looks like a pretty solid action rpg.
bit to grumpy eh?SmilesX-23 said:Those characters look uniformly unlikeable
Thanks, now you mention it the combat system does remind me a bit of condemned, being a good thing in my eyes. Hopefully the rpg elements will distract us away from the repetition of stomping on zombies heads. In the video you posted I'm pretty sure the player dodges the "charger" and never sees it again, although he does get killed shortly after so it might have popped up again.bliebblob said:Ahah! But seriously here's a gameplay vid:
Doesn't look anything like left 4 dead right? Note how much trouble he has with only 5 or 6 zawmbees.
Building your own weapons, learning new moves, "quests" that usually involve helping survivors,... This isn't left 4 dead, it's dead rising! Except they are going for a more realistic feel, not silly like dead rising. So they added fatigue and made the combat gorey and first person, a lot like condemned 2 which had some of the most unsetteling combat ever.
If anything I'm worried about variety. It takes a while to take down even a small group so dealing with group after group after group may get old fast. I'm afraid it may quickly become a routine like kick, throw, stomp on head, repeat. They said there will be lots of different types though but the big charging guy in this vid didn't seem like that much of a game changer.
