The game play looks awesome as it is, the added realism is (hopefully) going to be more awesome.
If only a certain game dev did this more often (Looks at MW2).

I give MW2 a free pass because it is one of the few games where you don't [re-]chamber a cartridge after reloading mid-mag. For games that don't do this, I like to imagine a wasted round plopping on the ground each time you reload.

As a gun owner myself, I have always been looking forward to a more realistic shooting experience in games. Hopefully they can pull it off, but it will never replace the feel/smell/experience of shooting in real life.

Well, I was mostly talking about the looks of the guns in the games. As you can tell if you have ever played the game the Spas-12 is a bit off.

I will note that some armies will do this even if they reload mid-mag because it can be hard to be sure how many shots you fired. It's better to waste a bullet then it is to not have anything to fire.

More related to the video, I think that all Devs that plan on making anything related to a gun in a game should do something like spending time at the range to really get a feel for them. Maybe even keep some air soft guns around to help with character poses and animations. I love at then end where they shot the cam with the Nerf gun.

It's good to see devs do this, a lot of people forget now a days how truly powerful modern military weapons are.

(I'm looking at you Japan)

I was just about to say that :p

Anyway, I like this. More devs should do this I think.

Maybe then so many will stop referring to magazines as 'clips'. And they'd learn that the shotgun does not have an effective range of just 5 feet in front of you.

Sigh .. 3rd person "snap" to cover system Ala Gears of war.. Yet another MASSIVE step away from Deus Ex original . By the time this game ships they really should rename it , I see nothing here { or in any other video } that is using The original games formula..

What a fun bunch. That being said, I have already lost all hope that this game is gonna be able to hold a candle to the original, but I still wanna try it and judge it on it's own merits. Comparing it to the original is gonna be disappointing either way, so why not look at it as an entirely different unrelated game, maybe then it will be more enjoyable.

So did Fallout 3, in relation to the Fallout series.

I personally like to reserve judgement until I play the game.

and you are telling me the originals gameplay was solid gold?

the thing that made deus ex special(and still does) is the freedom to tackle every problem the way you like and the story. thats something you can't show very well in a few gameplay videos. Of course in those you will see standard cover-based shooting in hopes that some fans of cover-based shooting will buy this game.
I am not saying this will not be total shit but everybody who had a chance to play the game for longer periods of time says the same: yep, thats the freedom that makes deus ex, despite cover-based shooting and finisher porn melee kills.

they probably showed the Console version (Console version always have aim assist)
(it could also be a option you can turn off)

When I saw that nerf gun being pointed at the camera, all i kept thinking was "do it do it do it".

Anyway, it's glad to see Eidos not being half-assed about important matters like this.

Actually when I first played the first dues ex I found it annoying there was NO cover system in it. and I played it back when it was originally released *I am 25 almost 26* and back then I was like, man I wish taking cover in a fire fight was easier and more intuitive, like why cant I have a little camera on the front of my gun or something. I love modern day shooters with snap to cover systems IF they are done 100% bug free *I AM TALKING TO YOU ALPHA PROTOCOL*. and in this they see to have that switch from 3rd person snap cover to first person view down very well, now they just need to make sure the 3rd person cover camera is non buggy.

PS: I hope a little bamboo separator wont stop a rifle round, I cant stand when games flake out on material penetration.

PPS: I said penetration lol's.

Is it by law that every office must have at least 1 Nerf weapon?

As for the experience of it, it goes help because when you fire one your expectations are completely different (thanks to games and films!)

I hope this helps the development of the game

Bwahaha, are they f***ing kidding me? They babble about how deeply this experience has changed their view and how they had to redo animations and what we see are exactly the same standard animations like in every other shooter, including Deus Ex 1.

Still on the fence slightly with this game. Trying not to let my love of the original colour my view of this game, at least this dev team seems to trying to bring together a really good game experience.

HAHA Good shot from the guy in the background.
