Well people like young Dante mature into people like old Dante so ya that is how that works. Not saying Dante is mature XD I think they are doing a good job at portraying what Dante as a brooding angst filled teen that he would have been as the trouble maker at heart he is.ScareJester said:I expect the combat to be good, but the new Dante seems more... douchey. In an annoying way. Less laid back "Chill, I've got this" and more the overcompensating "You think you can take me? Do ya? Well? DO YA, HUH?!". Still want to see how it turns out, though.
Just saying you don't seem to understand rolling a character back to a state it was never in before projecting a person back is much more difficult then moving it forward and Dante would have been that kid he really would have. Old Dante knows how to do it and be awesome in all ways but really sense when have you known a kid who literally knows all things in like and how to get by the way Dante does at his age dose not experiment with clothing and going through douche stages . I think this fits perfectly if you want a sequel wait till they make one. (wont happen because studios like copy and pasting things to make it easier so young Dante is here to stay if they make another.)Vyress said:Wow really? For me it is the opposite: with each trailer I am less and less interested in this game and after seeing this trailer I decided that I am definitely not going to buy or play this. They broke Dante's character too much, not just in aesthetics but in personality as well. He went from laid back to a complete douche. The way he talks... why do I have the image of Justin Bieber trying to act tough in my mind hen I see the segments in this latest trailer where Dante talks? Ah, because he sounds like a cocky little brat, that's why.ramboondiea said:cant wait for this, every trailer i see gets me more and more psyched for it.
still like the art direction, there is something about it i cant put my finger on, but not sure what it is
And the swearing and the smoking? What for? To make him look cool or something? Dante was always among the biggest badasses in gaming without doing any of those and he did so effortlessly. This Dante... it is like he is trying too hard to impress, to hard to look cool. The villain didn't look bad but what's the point if I simply hate the character I would be playing as?
I am a huge fan of the Devil May Cry series. I loved 1, 3 and even 4 (admittedly I haven't played the 2nd one myself ^^). And I am not someone who is against change in a gaming series. But the change has to be for the better. Improve stuff or introduce new things to it. But change for changes sake just go get some shocker sales when something wasn't broken in the first place (here: the protagonist) that's where things start to get iffy for me. I never thought that anything could tear me away from this series but they did it. Everything in this game seems so.... punky to me. That dude from "The Order", Dante, the music... Sorry this just isn't for me.
If anyone can enjoy that: more power to you. I can't.
So yeah: no more Devil May Cry for me as long as it is like this. There are other games out there.
Classy. xDInfernai said:So, a media that carries the name of another IP that is supposedly set in the same universe as the original with characters having the same names. But, has changed their personalities, motivations, abilities, origin and appearance.
Didn't someone else do something very similar sounding to this before?

I suppose you tried to say that since the original Dante is older he would of course be more accomplished in stuff the reboot Dante is trying to do. Well, consider Devil May Cry 3: Dante isn't really old here is he? Late teens, about 17 to 19. How old is reboot Dante supposed to be to make such a drastic change in douchy-ness? 12? xD No, he will be around the same age as DmC 3 Dante, maybe 16 - considering he is seen smoking it would probably not be good publicity on Ninja Theory's part if he was younger than that. It's like what Nolan's Batman is to the old batman movies in the sense of a reboot or even the new bond movies, you know? Yep, he swears, he's a young teen who spent most of his life being hunted by demons no doubt.Beautiful End said:Oh, Maker. I just can't-- I don't even--
Let's break this down.
1. I admit the gameplay was fun. I guess that's a given since it's still kind of a DMC game.
However...
2. I was pissed when they attempted to say this was the original Dante. Then they did that whole "Oh, you thought HE was Dante? No, no. You got it wrong, silly!" thing. So I was...okay with it, I guess. But now they're taking the original story from Dante and adding it to this new guy. Son of Sparda? No, no. You got the wrong guy. So again...what sets the original Dante and this new Dante apart? You say he's a side-story character, yet he has the same story? What the flying fuck, NT? Make up your mind!
3. Dante writing "Fuck you". Really? What is he, 5? He already made his point when he punched the guy to the face. And then the dialogue he has with the boss-thing:
Boss: "Fuck you"
Dante: FUCK YOU!"
Oh, real mature, Dante. You sure showed her. See, I know this is not the original Dante and all. But original Dante was classy. he was laidback. He was on top of everything. He didn't need to go around insulting people or acting like a prick. He was more of a "Ughh, let's get this over with, shall we?" kind of guy as opposed to new Dante who's all "You wanna dance? I will rip your spine out and fuck it until it's dry and then I will mail it to your children while I piss on your grave!". Again, not cool.
4. It's been said before but: Laidback, cool and collected badass guy vs. frat boy douchebag? I think it's obvious who is better.
I wouldn't be so pissed if NT had said from day 1 "HEY! This is NOT DMC! But we took inspiration from it!". You know, change the names, the borrowed background story and you got yourself a pretty decent-looking game. It looks good...but I just can't get over the fact that they're creating a new game and trying to pass it off as the next DMC. Just...no! And I think that's why there are torn opinions about this game.
If I took...I don't know, Dragon Age and changed its characters to Mario and company and attempted to pass it off as the next Mario game, you bet people would be pissed! It could a great game with beautiful music, great story and graphics and gameplay. But people would still be pissed.
Yeah, it'd probably have helped this game (just like the Tomb Raider prequel, come to think of it) if it was created as a new IP, this way you wouldn't get anyone complaining about the game not matching the pre-established concepts. From what I've seen so far it doesn't seem to have much in common with the DmC storyline anyway.itchcrotch said:oh the poor boy, he still thinks he's dante.
why can't they just call it something new? like the adventures of mr. pixie hair? then i could stop unconiously comparing it to the actual devil may cry games and totally be interested!
