Wait I'm confused... the title says this is a FFXII-2 trailer, but the video was DA2 gameplay.

Ugh, time travel. Just go into the future to a time when Lightning was already found and ask her where she went. If you go to the future and Lightning isn't there, then you never rescued her and there is no point in looking for her. PARADOX.

They did NOT just try to make QTEs a positive feature.

The fuck?

All of that sounds pretty good to me, although the droning robotic narrator did not help to get me excited. Still, this has eased my trepidation about this being another X-2 somewhat.

Also, it seems to be akin to what Kingdom Hearts 2 did, which I don't remember hearing any complaints about. But I never played KH2 myself (sold my ps2 before it came out), so I dunno.

..I am still not convinced I want this, despite liking (to an extent) Final Fantasy XIII.

Mostly because I don't want to play as Serah, because her character is pretty much Vanille-light with the more occasional serious note. Noel, on the other hand.. if-if.

Give me more fucking Lightning, damnit! >_<

I don't recall Serah having much of a personality, honestly. She was just there. And doesn't Snow care that his wife(?) is running around with some younger man?

SHOW MORE INTEREST IN YOUR WIFE, SNOW.

Another person who missed the depth of XIII's battle system. Oh well, no big loss.

Vanille only had a tolerable character whenever she was near Fang, really. Otherwise, she was just the awkward joke that tried to be serious when needed (and utterly failed). Serah at least had a voice that didn't make you want to poke out your own eardrums every time she talked, and had.. some plot relevance not completely convoluted.

And as for Snow, well.. we all know Snow is getting it on with that magical motorbike of his behind the scenes, of course. I don't think Serah can compare to a threesome that obeys your every command, now.

The combat of XIII was quite frankly the least annoying aspect of the game, agreed. Though I didn't very much like the need to have to stagger to do more than 1/5 of the damage the enemy was already doing to you in return, either. Or the "lead character dies, everyone loses" thing..

Oh, I didn't say that it didn't have it's fair share of flaws. Just...the auto-attack function was really good in selecting the right attacks for the situation, but most people just see it as 'Mash X'. Except if you tried that during or after the first fight with Barthandelus, you got reamed. And the combat happened too quickly for you to select individual skills later on in the game anyway. The depth of the battle system lies in the Paradigms, not the individual actions...Besides, does anyone do anything besides 'Buff > Attack > Attack > Heal > Buff > Repeat' in every RPG ever?

However! Needing to stagger to do massive damage didn't really bug me that much...but that's probably because I'd played Resonance of Fate before XIII. (In RoF, machineguns did massive damage, but it was only 'temporary' damage that couldn't kill and enemies healed it back. Handguns did very low damage, but it was permanent. Generally, you machinegunned an enemy to low health, then took potshots with a handgun. Grenades were hard to come by and took up an equipment slot (Which is a big deal), but most do massive permanent damage. Most bosses were easily beaten by spamming grenades at them.)

Well judging by the trailer its the Final Fantasy game I wanted XIII to be. But to be honest the trailer had me at 'towns full of NPCs', add a ton of extra stuff to do and a few mini games and I'm sold.
And there wasn't even a mention of that annoying Hope guy.

Maybe its time to jump of Square-Enix's back and commend them for actually listening to their fans feedback.
Now just take my money already!

So, yeah, this is a game that I will pass up with a smile.

I liked FF13 for what it did and what it was, played it to death, did everything there was to do and then some, liked the characters, the world, pretty much everything ( even Vanille ).

And now they come with FF13-2, they throw away almost the entire cast from the previous game in favor for a stale-background character that is Serah and some time-travel boy called Noel, with whom you will be stuck for the entirety of the game. Sorry Square, but I want Sazh, Snow and Hope back, a static, 2 player team isn't really appealing to me, sorry. I couldn't care less for the random animal-catch gimmick either.

I just want to further explore the world of Cocoon and Pulse with the characters that I have grown to love and like while playing FF13, I don't care for Serah or Noel.

I was going to say the same thing.

I didn't really like the paradigm system because it seemed to limit strategy rather than help it in FFXIII. It seems that you still can't actively control the other characters in battle. Thanks a lot, Square Enix, for not getting the hint. I hated the crystarium-whatever thingy because it took forever to get points and losing them all was as easy as pressing a button. Maybe non-linearity would ameliorate that but I'm not sure that's getting at the root of the problem.

Hell, they should've just brought back the Sphere Grid system from FFX. Sure I was drastically overpowered by the end of the game but at least you could get the skills and attributes you wanted when you wanted them. Actually, maybe the License System from FFXII would be even better. It had way more freedom.

For God's sake, don't wait till half of the fucking game is over to allow us to freely choose which paradigm we can use. Why would we use what was kept from us for half the fucking game? No one has enough time and patience to level the delinquent paradigms up to adequacy.

And Vanille's gone now and she was, by far, the most interesting character in the game for me. Sure she was quirky as fuck but she sort of seemed like she would've been the main character if Lightning didn't hog up all the screen-time and gameplay time.

All in all, I'm getting FFXIII and, by God, I'm going to like it. I suffered through the entirety of FFXIII and this damn sure better be my reward.

EDIT: It's really interesting how many mixed views there are of what made XIII good and bad. For me, I guess the best part (or the only good part) was Gran Pulse, but that was short-lived.

im going to keep my post breif. i liked FFXIII the combat was more complicated then it seamed. not alot granted. and XIII-2 could be cool. the first ever true FF Sequel (if anyone so much as mentions "the thing" i will find you so help me god i will and it'll hurt).

but why, why cant they look back and see ok FFX. VII, IX and for me VIII are easily the best FF made (i havn't played anything below 7 because 1 i'm only 20 2 not Japanese and 3 don't play handheld games much) and go so lets make something like that, but 3d and HD with Micheal bay 'splosions (NOT TOO MANY).

final part :) i loved FFX its my favorite by far. yes it was liner, but it had exploration within its linearity. and the combat was fun, the story was enjoyable. the characters were to me all cool. except when Tidus is trying to be funny, that's awkward. the ending was batshit crazy. i want a FF thats like X dammit. why Squeenix why you hate me so

I just want to know: WILL I BE ABLE TO CONTROL MORE THAN ONE DAMN CHARACTER?!

That is all I really care 'bout.
Can't say I know, buddy. Can't say I know..

All I want is more Lightning portions. >_< Is that so much to ask, Squeenix?!

I DON'T LIKE CHANGE OR STORY PROGRESSION! I WANT TO PLAY THE SAME CHARACTERS IN THE SAME SETTING FOREVER!!! That's you. That's what you sound like.

I don't mean to come off as an FF13 fanboy (I'm going more a devil's advocate thing here), because it took me over a year to work up the boredom needed to try 13 and I had to forgive quite a few glaring flaws to like it. I'd rank it above 10, which I hated, and below 7, 9, and even 11. I'm perfectly happy to acknowledge legitimate criticisms of the game, but don't try and dismiss the game before you've even seen it just because the story has *gasp* progressed!

As for the creature capture thing, I actually find it kind of intriguing in a pokemon sort of way.
