So was this the free dlc that was announced after the public outcry two or so months ago, or did that already happen? Does adding more cards to randomized packs count as "free" dlc? Isn't this actually like Wizards of the Coast announcing a new 'free' expansion (as per normal), but you still have to buy the cards?

Wasn't there going to be a new ending dlc or something for the single player game? I could have sworn there was one announced.
As I remember yes there is a new ending DLC coming out and it is scheduled for July and Summer time if I remember correct, which is good would you really want a rushed DLC addition to the ending after all? People can say they want them to hurry up all they want but if it's rushed to get it out sooner they will be the same people crying foul that is was rushed when it is released and how Bioware "Let them down again". (And I believe it was already stated to be free).

Isn't just free cards either both DLC's that have come out have brought with them new maps as well and this current one is adding a near type of 'Permanent' equipment you can unlock and a new objective. Though I have no doubt many people will probably snort and say that doesn't count as DLC I vote that it does count and would simply wish to remind everyone if this was a franchise like CoD and not Mass Effect you would have been charged for just the maps alone by now instead of them being free.

Kind of. You still get the maps for free, and I'm going to probably presume the new game mode is free too, so it's like them giving away a free demo pack every new expansion.
it's not even a game mode, it's just a different objective type

ME3's multiplayer desperately needs a REAL new game mode.

Considering that this is free, I cannot think of one reason not to download and play this.
I can. Multiplayer for this trilogy shouldnt have existed in the first place, no matter how slightly above mediocre it is.
This is really ignorant crap

Looks nice. Maybe when they get that fixer-upper for the game that allows me to look at the box art without wanting to weep copiously I will check it out. (Okay, that was hyperbolic, for anyone who's gearing up to flame me for it) In seriousness, the multiplayer is fun and fine and a good way to kill some time in a video game mode - like when I have an hour or so to kill before going out and want to play but know that anything else will get me too involved to want to stop in a timely manner to leave in an hour. It is not, however, anything remotely close to what I bought the title for and actually care about. I would be much happier with single player add-ons/dlc/etc. than I am with all this attention to multiplayer mode expanding. Hell, 2 more conversations per companion would meet with more enthusiasm from my corner any day, and I might even have considered paying for it - once the fixer-uper comes through of course.

So more horde mode?
Come on.

What about a PVP? Territory control? CTF? Salty Watermelons?
Come on Bioware you just have the bones of MP not the meat.

While this stuff is cool and all...

I would like to see Bioware make an attempt to include some of the new weapons and powers in the single player experience. Because we've been using a practically unchanging set of tech and biotic powers for two games now.

And my Adept Shep would just adore the Lash and Slam abilities from the new Cerberus Defectors. And a Geth Plasma SMG. And maybe that Harrier rifle.

While I absolutely love the new DLC (especially the new characters, the maps, and the awesome Reegar Carbine shotgun), I do share the sentiment that we need some new multiplayer modes aside from "Survive N number of waves and complete objectives X,Y, and Z".

That said, I don't think competetive modes are the way to go, due to rampant balancing issues that would arise. Seriously, what player would consider being on the recieving end of a Vanguard Charge/Nova combo "fair"? Or what about being melee'd by a Krogan (God help you if you have to play against a Krogan Vanguard!)? Would being stun-locked by a Salarian's Energy Drain (because, of course, all he's holding is an Avenger) be fair? Oh, wait, what about getting hit with Stasis? And let's not even start on the fairness of someone loading out with a Mantis I, only to have to fight someone with a Widow X...

No, I think the way to go would be actual missions that players undertake, or maybe even some form of multiplayer story content (a Mass Effect take on The Old Republic's Flashpoint instances, maybe?). Something like that, where we're still cooperating, but we're undertaking something new, not just in terms of enviornment, but in terms of purpose. At the very least, if nothing else is done, can we at least get some new enemies?
