what's with the non-existent recoil?
I noticed that right off the bat. I've never got around to playing any of the operation flashpoint games. They always look like fun, getting to roam around a large map sending orders to your squad. I'm always a fan of the battlefield 2 type of game play.

It looks like Ghost Recon's Combat system got together with Battlefield's large, open terrain environment... Nothing new here I guess...

The recoil isn't really that big of an issue; its not that hard to handle on Semi or burst, and the two people who used Automatic were practicing proper fire control, so the recoil was controlled. Now if they had just opened up and kept it still, then yes, there would have been an issue.

I did notice though that they used a Pavelow.....but those been in use since what? 2006? 2008? An Osprey or Blackhawk or the like would have made more since. (The Osprey especially, considering it was a Marine vehicle)

Compared to COD, it looks much better.

I love ArmA2 as both single, and multiplayer. The scale of the game is massive and surpasses almost everything else as far as realism goes. However, it's less forgiving than most other games. If you get hit, you're hurting (if not dead). ArmA isn't for everyone, but it's a much better simulator than anything else.

However, the new Op Flashpoints have much better voice acting.

OK so let me get this straight-

1. The mission is to rescue the crew of a downed helicopter. How original. This scenario is finding it's way into more games than Omaha beach.

2. What could have been a stealthy mission gets wrecked completely when the team reveals themselves about 5 ks out from the town by opening fire on a vehicle that's just... pottering down the road. Apparently nobody remarks on how stupid that move is.

3. at 1:06- sustained fully automatic fire with zero recoil.

4. The enemy consolidates a force between the team and their planned extraction point and the best idea they can think of is to... force their way through? Allowing themselves to be caught with the enemy on both sides? Why not just relocate to a backup extraction point? Or did they just not think that far ahead? I wonder...

5. Those video glitches, colour distortions and pixellations, which I first thought were just a problem when recording the trailer, actually seem to be an intentional game effect every time you are shot or something blows up. That's got to be the most braindead thing I've seen yet about the game. You may as well slap a big flashing '[*] REC' on the screen to remind the player that they're just watching it all on a screen and aren't in the fray themselves.

Red River, you have now lost me as a buyer. Completely.

Return of Regenerating Health - why send 4 supersoldiers when two would be enough: one to shoot and the other to hold the ammo. It'd be much cooler and "realistic" if teamwork had to be top notched when one shot could kill or at least make unable to walk or something like that.

not exactly, the CH-53E Super Stallion would of been a better choice for the area since it has a smaller overall length/width than the Osprey, which would of needed a larger and more considerably flatter area for landing.

However, the MH-53 Pavelow has since been retired in September of 2008, so there is a good chance that it was a Super Stallion.

OT: Sorry Codemasters, I loved the Operation Flashpoint games, but Arma and Arma II are carrying the torch on spectacularly.

now if only it didnt cost $97 for Arma II and all of it's expansion packs ._.
I meant to say say "haven't been in use", not "have been in use".

And the Osprey probably would've been a bad idea anyways; considering their track record.

Yah that is in fact the Super Stallion. It's the heaviest chopper in the U.S. arsenal. The Pavelow while somewhat similar is used by the Air Force. The Osprey is meant to replace the Sea Knight and is in actual use in theater right now.

As with the weapons, the recoil and rate of fire seem to be all wrong. Also if you look at the M-16A4, it has the A2 hand guard instead of the picatinny rails as its supposed to.

I'm not even going to go into the game play because it already looks as if it won't have any realistic, or "authentic" (as Codemasters puts it) feel to it at all. Looks as if ArmA is still the way to go.
