I remember reading about a workshop in a gaming con in which the speaker talked about how to find a game's main 'theme'. Essentially, it means narrowing down what your game means in a few words. Lacking one makes your game feel disconnected and weakens its atmosphere. Whenever you hit a snag in the design, be it in mechanics, graphics, story, what have you, ask yourself what choice better fits the theme and go with it.

For this game, it obviously was 'Haha, what? Really?'

Also the guys doing the English dub were a bit too overeager for their job.

When developers chant the word "Unique" like a mantra, then that doesn't exactly bode well for the game :S
