Oh wow. As if I couldn't get more psyched about The Darkness 2. The game looks smooth and heavy on the action. Though I kinda wasn't impressed with the quad wielding

I just hope the storyline holds up to the last one's standards

Glorified grav-gun? Maybe. But who hasn't harboured secret fantasies of having tentacles after watching their first episode of La Blue Girl?

I think the concept could pay off... if the game plays itself with a deliberate sense of camp. I never really took to The Darkness as a comic but I kind of like the idea behind it. Man gets demonic shadow powers and can't have sex or he'll die and the son inherits it. It's the ultimate equalizer, because men usually compare the value of something by the amount of "cake" it gets them. Make Jackie into Duke Nukem if he was relatable and kind of blue-balled and yeah, I think I can get behind this.

Of course if it's full of annoying comic book sense of mature content (lots of unrealistic violence, swearing, female forms and Garth Ennis references) then sorry, that kind of thing is a deal breaker to me.

Well, I'm intrigued. But more than anything I hope they can keep up the storytelling and voice acting quality of the first one.

I'm excited yet worried, yes the combat looks even better, but I hope the game still has that amazing atomsphere the first had.

As someone whose read two volumes of the Darkness and played the original game, I've got to say the first game was far better than the comics. It was genuinely mature, not 90's comic mature, some of the interactions with other character especially Jenny where amazingly emotional and the tone and atompshere of the entire game was perfect. It was an amazing game (and still is).

I'm not impressed, the physic and hit detection look all wrong to me i always feel like the tentacle come nowhere near hitting the mobs but they still send them flying away...

The Darkness was my first next-gen game, so I spent the entire game being full of awe over the graphics. My second attempt to a playthrough a few years later left me disappointed since the graphics had become pretty bad to todays standard... but it was still a great game and I'm looking forward to the sequel!
The cel-shading leaves me a bit saddened though. Takes away a lot of the grittyness the game should have imo.

This seems a lot like they're just showing us the same things from the screens they released, so I'm a bit hesitant. Also, I'm not seeing the light mechanics return (though this is just focused on quad wielding right now, so I'm still hopeful. It was so much fun to destroy all lights in the level and basically stalk the frightened and blind guards in the first game).
