About the bees thing: there's this theory that humanity will be extinct in 3 to 4 years if all bees were to suddenly disappear. Because they play such an important role in fertilizing plants and by extention in the production of the world's food resources. This theory is often used as an example of why it is important to not destroy species and their habitats.

It may be an urban legend born from poorly interpreted scientific articles though. But by coincidence I saw an interview with a professor from a wel known local univeristy a few days ago. He is a specialist on bees and wasps and he said bees have been doing very very bad lately because they have a hard time finding the right habitat. He than explained why this is bad and pretty much cited the theory I just explained.
Now this was NOT one of those lunatics screaming on the sidewalk holding a "the end is neigh" sign with a degree from an online scam college, no this guy was as legit as it gets. So if he busts out the disappearing bees story there must be some truth to it right?

Urban legend or not though, doomsday newsreports and conspiracy theories about the bees disappearing have been popping up regularly for years. That's probably where these guys got the idea for their game. It's strange they would say they are returning though rather than disappearing. Maybe they wanted to give an image of a world that actually just started blossoming rather than dying.

OT: this game grabbed my attention like a sandvich would a heavy's 2 trailers ago but there is soooooo little info on what the gameplay is actually like and this did not help at all.

Been following this game for a good while now... my only problem, it's funcom, wasn't age of conan meant to be the wowkiller? This "looks" good, even with a crappy trailer, but the proof is in the pudding.
Age of Conan was meant to be a story driven game, like the Tortage starter isle was, but throughout the entire game. Sadly Eidos, the publisher of the game, stopped funding the project for whatever reason and as such, Funcom was forced to release the game pretty much in its alpha stages. But to be fair they've fixed the vast majority of the flaws that plagued it at launch and turned it into a very enjoyable MMO.
It basically would've beaten The Old Republic to the punch by several years if Eidos hadn't pulled that stunt.

A terrible trailer to a very promising game with a truly unique premise. Really, this trailer set them back by at least 5 respect points. Try again marketing division...we're waiting.

All the more reason to continue wearing my tin foil cap.
Exactly what I thought :).

I don't like tin foil hat references, though because they are usually not used to ridicule paranoid geeks but to discredit people aware of very real problems.

Not a great trailer, but somewhat intriguing at least. I always like the whole "the world you know is a lie" kind of thing.

And Ragnar Tornquist of The Longest Journey fame is working on the story? That's enough to have me interested right there.

Honestly I don't know what just happened, but I think afterwards I needed a cigarette and I knew the developer wasn't going to call me in the morning. The visuals were nice but without a little context the text came off serious to the point of being silly. I do want to know more though, so I guess mission accomplished.

Ok... well that seemed to tell me so much and yet I know nothing more...

That in itself must be a conspiarcy.

Looking forward to this so Ragnar can damn well move on and finish The Longest Journey: Dreamfall.

It's also Ragnar Tornquist of Dreamfall "fame". That's enought to keep me very apprehensive.

Plus it's a MMORPG, and whenever I have the time for one of those I don't have the money for a subscription, and whenever I have the money I don't have the time.

it's from the guy who wrote The Longest Journey and Dreamfall
it incorporates HP Lovecraft, urban myths, ancient legends and conspiracy theories
they had me before they even started releasing gameplay information

That trailer confused me a little.. I was getting it until about 40 potential trailerhooks/subtitles appeared in sequence. Were they just trying loads and seeing what people like, or did they hire too many writers and decided to get their money's worth? :S
