Can't wait for this. I'm almost reluctant to look at too much press for this game because I know it'll be amazing and I want it to rock my socks off on first impression. Combat looks ok, although a little clunky, still more interesting than the 1st. I read all the books, and they seemed very swordplay-heavy and technical, using a bunch of terms of longsword martial arts that I had to look up later. Concentrated a lot on footwork,weight distribution, parrying and all that. So this looks like it's trying to take that more into context, as well as all the magic.

I don't know why people are complaining about the voiceover with it's Polish accent - I found it downright refreshing after being constantly subjected to heavy American accents in most other media.
It does look nice. I hated the whole stance thing that Witcher 1 had. It made combat into pretty much rock paper scissors except the enemy could only pick one thing, and you knew what it was. I always wanted to like The Witcher but everything that people said was wrong with it was stuff I can't stand. I'm looking forward to Witcher 2, for now.
Seems to me that this skill system was in need of a cut down, the only purpose of the three styles in the first Witcher was to make the combat feel more complex then it really was. It doesn't seem like you can do any less, just that there's less bullshit micro managing to work through. Remember, size doesn't equal depth.Arachon said:

Since the combat is real time and you have more control over the characters actions, you can be more strategic and specific then you could by just telling him when and who to attack.
The engine the first Witcher ran on was made for party based RPG's like KOTOR or Dragon Age, Dragon Age II went the action route for no conceivable reason other then to appeal to people who wouldn't play it anyway, but since The Witcher is set up more like an action game(One guy with special powers), it makes sense that the base gameplay would be controlled like an action game.
Colour me not that impressed. I really see not that many changes from the first one, the only changes I have seen so far is his horendous outfit, the combination of items and magic to increase effect, 1 or 2 more spells including a slow down feature to switch between them (as well as the mentioned bonus spell at the end of the skill tree), and the reduced skill trees (Though they are not really that reduced, they are moreso just varied for skills instead of extra damage and bleed effects and so on so forth, as an example from the three old Sword Trees).
I loved the first one, it kept me thuroughly entertained, and it sure as hell wasn't the combat that was doing the entertaining. Truthfully I think these guys have been wasting not only our time, but theirs as well. Don't get me wrong, I'll still play it, but unless the story was written by the ghost of Tolkien, I will care little for it.
The only game so far that has had gameplay make me really giddy is Skyrim, which is rare, very rare, and that will be the GOTY hands down.

That's the only part I'm worried about, since in The Witcher's world, Dragons are super intelligent, and actually a nice and reasonable creatures, so I hope they won't change them into mindless beasts of destruction.
I'm still super hyped though. I have full faith in CDP Red. This will a great game and a strong GOTY contender.
So let me get this straight. This is a PC game that uses a circular HUD to select abilities? Also, by the looks of it you can only bind 2 spells at a time. BULLSHIT. I've got a goddamn keyboard at my fingertyps. Why the fuck should I put up with that crap? Give us key binding back assholes.

I remember Bioware mentioning players(aka Numbskulls) were quitting after an hour of play because there was no Dragons. So they added Flemeth into the introduction.
But, it's interesting to hear about the Witcher's Dragons...I didn't know they had intelligent DnD Dragons. That could make for some interesting quests I reckon.
This game is so impressive from such a small developer.
Geralt being personal guard of king Foltest... C'mon, it's silly. Especially when you read the Witcher saga. The 'orginal' Geralt avoids involvment in politics. And correct me if I'm wrong, but assaulting on a castle with king of Temeria doesn't look like avoiding involvment.
I think guys from CDP Red are just trying to hard making Witcher 2 epic, like... I don't know... Mass Effect in example. Game where you save all universe!
