And after that, you wonder why the imperial guard that were left behind, after the Damocles Crusader, accepted the offer to join the Tau.kajinking said:Wait so some imperial guard are going to be enemies too? Nice to see they're keeping with their proud tradition of betraying to the dark powers and acting as cannon fodder till something big and powerful saves or kills them.
It's actually much further than the year 40,000 in the lore, more like 41,000 or something. They always say "In the 41st Millennium" rather than the actual year.Iron Lightning said:They got the math wrong again, it's 37,989-38,989 years in the future. They call it Warhammer 40,000 for a reason.
Yep, the 5th edition's timeline has written events for dates up to the morning of the last standard day in the 41st millennium (which makes me wonder when they'll get on to the bloody 42nd millennium, they probably won't because of their copyright on their catchphrase: "In the Grim Darkness of the 41st Millennium There is Only War.") That's why I said 37,989-38,989 years in the future, as that would roughly cover any date in the 41st millennium since I don't know when exactly this game takes place.Waaghpowa said:It's actually much further than the year 40,000 in the lore, more like 41,000 or something. OT: Anything WH40k related gives me shivers from excitement, my collectors PC copy needs to arrive in the mail sooner...
They're used interchangeably. Along with the incredibly GRIMDARK paragraph used to open every one of the books.Fronzel said:I thought it was "In the Grim Darkness of the Far Future There is Only War", but I'm not that much into it so I'm probably wrong.Iron Lightning said:makes me wonder when they'll get on to the bloody 42nd millennium, they probably won't because of their copyright on their catchphrase: "In the Grim Darkness of the 41st Millennium There is Only War."
There's war. No one's gonna win. The only feasable advancement would be a.) necrons and/or tyranids actually win or b.) the strange things BEYOND the known galaxy arrive and kill everyone. And that would be kinda dull, wouldn't it? Or am I missing something?Yokai said:They're used interchangeably. It would be nice if GW would actually advance the plot. I assume they're still trying to come up with a way to do so that allows them to release a dozen new model lines.
Because Tau brainwash anything to include into their collective. They are just as ruthless as the imperium, perhaps even more because they keep their subjects enslaved without them knowing.iniudan said:And after that, you wonder why the imperial guard that were left behind, after the Damocles Crusader, accepted the offer to join the Tau.
Ahhh..... you refer to "St. Hironimous backhanded Sword bash" a common move employed by more experienced Marines to induce terror and fear into the hearts of their remaining enemies. After all, if you can cleave a beast in twain with the blunt end of your weapon - you really tell your foes who's the Angel of Death on the Battlefield.Mathak said:How to tell it's time for your battle-brother to go enjoy his well-earned retirement: he tries to cut a daemon's throat with the blunt end of his chainsaw.
From the demo I can assure you that bashing orks is satisfying and challenging enough.MrJKapowey said:Two of them are going to charge at you yelling and hollering (daemons and orks)
One is going to die, and again, and again... (Traitor Guard)
One of the enemies is going to offer a symetrical combat situation where you are on a semi-even footing with the hostile force. (Chaos Marines)

A Nob can take you out quite fast on his own.
The traitor guard are many - and they got big guns I assume. If you face scores of Traitors armed with lasguns, plasma rifles and Krak missiles - you will have your challenge.
You want tau ? Who would shoot you before you barely see them ? Or face you in overpowered Mechas that outgun you, outrun you and take more punishment then you ? Not in a game based around melee combat thank you.
Necrons ? Who would shuffle in your general direction, vaporize you in long range and just come back again and again after you beat ther skulls in ? Not in a game based around melee combat thank you.
Eldar, Dark Eldar and Tyranids... now those I could imagine. Although I REALLY would like to have a sequel / spin off about a Harlequin Solitair from this...
Well, you have various little plot elements like the missing Primarchs supposedly returning and the Golden Throne slowly breaking down, and it would be interesting to see more because the story so far has been of remarkably high quality for what does essentially boil down to "Here are enemies, kill they ass".Le_Lisra said:There's war. I mean.. since when does 40k need much of a plot? Here are enemies, kill they ass.
I was going to say "this", but then I remembered I already pre-purchased it on Steam. So, really, they've already taken my money. Now I just need to wait for it to come out... *sigh*mikstar890 said:SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!
