Transferring Data on my xbox 360 question

I plan on buying the new xbox 360 slim and will need to transfer my stuff onto the new hard drive. I already have a transfer cable and am aware on how to use it. The question I have is that is it possible to only transfer my gamertag and other items from my original hard drive onto the new one while keeping all my brothers stuff on the original?

Yeah. The CD that comes with the transfer kit starts a program that lets you pick and choose exactly what you want to copy across - I did that last month when I uprgaded from a small HDD to a decent sized one.

I'm not quite sure I still have the cd because I transferred content from my other old hard drive last year and seem to have misplaced the disc. Would it still be possible?

I've got to be honest and say I don't know, I've only transferred data once. Sorry.

You know, if all you want to copy across is your gamertag and a few save files, you could just use a memory card like you get with the Arcade. They don't have much space on them for things like any DLC you've got, but it'll have more than enough space for a gamertag and some savefiles.

Alright well thanks for the input. I'll just fiddle around with it and see where it gets me. The reason for the new xbox is that my old one shit the bed again...

You choose what to tranfer so just exclude his stuff.

Well, first off you can't use memory cards with the new slim systems, although you can use a USB stick. Also, you no longer need the disc, as the transfer software was included with one of the recent updates and comes pre-loaded onto the slim systems. Yes, you can pick and choose which folders to transfer, but if you're only moving a few select things you're probably better off using a USB stick to move your gamertag and saved games then just download any DLC stuff again.
