Transformed into a small animal

Ok, so due to some witch/scientist/alien/whatever, you've been transformed into a small animal (pokemon, real animal, obligatory animal mascot from EVERY IMAGINABLE anime, etc) and now you have to face the people you see and have them deal with this. You can still talk (or not if you want to add more challenge) but how would your people react and how would you react?

I have watched too much anime/video games to let this hypothetical situation shock me. If there was a cure, I'd try to find it, even if I got powers like flying or a flashy death beam. I don't know how my family would react.

Meh, make me a Houndour. Being a two foot tall dog that can breathe fire and attack with what could be considered dark energy, as well as talk, sounds good to me. I think my friends and family would obviously think it crazy that I became such a dog, but worst case I take turns staying with people in return for protecting them. It takes a lot to shock me, so I like to think I'd be ok with this.
