Well obviously I posted this a bit late, but better late than never.
*possible spoilers*
What was very stupid about the sequel?
I've been scanning around forums and talking to different people about their thoughts on the transformer that turned human. I won't say much more for fear spoiling it.
First off... Did NO ONE think that was abosolutely stupid?
First off, I've owned A LOT of the transformer toys (the toys that the show and movies are based off of) and none of them turn human. To me, that's too far of a stretch.
Now this is for anyone who has children.
IF you took your kids to see the first Transformers because you heard it was a very clean movie (it was), then transformers 2 may make you think twice before letting younger kids see it.
Yes, I understand it's a PG13 movie, but even I was a bit taken back by the amount of cursing and sexual references in the movie. The kids will enjoy seeing Optomus whip some tail, but you as a parent might feel a little disturbed when you kid asked you what a "Scrotum" is.
But, casting asides it's flaws, the movie will really boil down to one question.
"Will I enjoy it?"
The answer is YES.
The pointless scenes and the lack of robotic interest will all be thrown out the window once you seen Optomus kick some bad guy booty.
Sorry this is kind of late....but I just saw the movie yesterday for 2 bucks (yay, i'm cheap!). Your post is the first one I found...
I'd already heard some bad reviews so I wasn't really expecting anything.
I think the movie can be broken down into two parts. The fight scenes and the exposition/comic relief scenes. The fight scenes were pretty well done if you ask me, except for the monotony of the noises (those noises the transformers ((similiar to those you hear as the movie starts)) got old to me). However the only word I can think of for the exposition sections and the dialogue from the characters is JUVENILE. How many "comic relief" characters does a movie need....really.
To name a few: His college roomate, his mom(I really feel bad for this actress), that annoying little robot mikhaela catches, those two annoying robots, kind of turturro's character, and jetfire.....seriously he's a robot with a cane??? That's just stupid...and I think you saw that too.
I also agree with what you said about the human transforming robot....That should have definitely been explained because it didn't fit in with any of the rest of the movies. If they're are robots that can do that why don't they do it more often...
Also bravo to you for seeing the stupid and unnecessary amount of swears in this movie...I mean I curse all the time and it doesn't usually bother me. But considering who this movie was going to be marketed to, i think it was totally unnecessary and not at all appropriate. How many times do we have to hear "***** Ass", "asshole", "pussy", etc. before it gets worn out?
Overall the bad outweighed the good for me. As much as I like a good action scene (and there were some pretty good ones in this movie) the horrible cheesiness and juvenile comedy kept coming back to me. As soon as I thought the movie was done ruining itself, Turturro's character tells the military he's under the enemy "scrotum".....come on....really?
