So I know this is rumours, but I don't know how to feel about this. On the one hand the potential to have side characters/groups within transformers' canon having their own movie, and the potential for G.I Joe or Battleship (or both) to be part of the whole shabang.

Given who is the Kevin Feige of this possible universe would be, it could go either way between big dumb but enjoyable action movies and just bad action movies.

How do you all feel, because with how bad the Transformers movies where coupled with the "dumb but fun and cheesy" way the first G.I. Joe and Battleship movies where I'm on the fence about this whole thing.

Honestly it's hard to say really since it could go either way.

For a cinematic universe, they shouldn't try to killed off so many of the Autobot and Decepticon but at the same time it would be kind of kiddish if they were simply beat each other up despite having guns sproting off from their arms or would they simply get wounded and retreat?

I can't really believe people still watch the Transformers movies. I would have thought after the first, people would have packed it in.

It won't go either way; it'll be bad. No question. Bay is involved, and the producers seem to like the Hollywood Transformers movie. So it'll just be more of that, getting progressively worse(if that's even possible.)

There won't be a Beast Wars movie, there won't be a stand-alone Optimus Prime or Bumblebee movie. They won't cross over with GI Joe or Battleship. It'll be the Autobots(with the occasional new character or new version of an old character) and different villains, to sell toys.

A guy can dream can't he?

Besides, the movies have been the bulk of the income for these properties for years now, the toys they push are icing on the cake, not the cake itself like when it was just the cartoons.

Plus there is hope that it'll have fun but dumb movies in the mix of bad ones, the producer was also involved in Battleship and G.I. Joe since he owns the properties.

Hell, with what happened in those movies a retcon of them happening in the same canon could work, since none of the three properties stepped on each-other's toes. We're getting more Transformers out of it either way since Transformers 5 and 6 are in production, don't dash my hopes for more Joe and Ship!

I'm really not fond of cinematic universes. They're like an extension of comic universes, and I think the way Marvel and DC take perfectly good characters and contaminate them with existing IPs is a huge mistake.

I've got a soft spot for Michael Bay's Transformers movies. I also have a soft spot for the GI JOE movies - especially the second film.

I'm honestly a bit uneasy about live action Transformers movies made without Bay's direction. Bay is a very unique and talented filmmaker. I'd go so far as to call him the Hideo Kojima of film directors. Regardless of their inconsistent writing quality, the four Transformers films bear his unique fingerprint. I suspect upcoming sequels will attempt to replicate his style the way Battleship did. And I think that while Battleship was a decent Michael Bay clone, it is Peter Berg's weakest film.
