Anyone else as excited by aggresive Transforming robots as I am. Hopefully RotF will build on all that mecha-violence of the first. A decent freeway chase with lots of clunking from robot to vehicle with a tonne of damage along the way would be sweeeet!

Michael Bay is a fantastically bad director, the only reason to watch his own particular method of destroying my favourite childhood toy is for the CGI, everything else he does is vacuous crap.

It felt like humanity played too big a role in the first one to me. (regardless, I loved it)

I hope the second one has a ten minute long segment dedicated to Megan Fox. No dialog, no plot, nothing. Just Megan Fox.

And then the other two and a half hours can have all the Shia and robots he wants. Of course, there should be more robots than Shia. In fact, let's just ditch the Shia and stick with the robots. Please?

I know what you mean. I expected the worst but my jaw hit the floor when Blackout landed. He handled that with a great deal of tension and you could tell it was going to kick off. I just hope he's a bit more generous with the action now budget isn't so much of a concern. I expected a great car chase from Barricade & Bumblebee, what with them being his forte, and it pretty much stopped before he got going. The freeway showdown with Devastator was pretty sweet but again, too short.
I thought the actors did a pretty good job. Tucci and the parents were great.

Just got back and have to say, after a belting start it certainly outstayed it's welcome. I never thought I'd say this but it did get to a point where I was willing it to end.
The human characters didn't get as much screen time and with every scene having a Transformer of some description the novelty soon wore off. They'd have been better off with the same budget as the last movie because too much money almost killed this movie.

That said, the intro in Japan was fan-f@f**k-tastic. And there was some genuinely thrilling set pieces. Seeing the odd cheeky movement from the animated movie and some far more interesting Transforming animations, particularly Primes intro, really promoted the horn.

Sadly there wasn't anything as foreboding as Blackout's intro in the first movie.

The Transformers themselves looked a lot better, the designs tightened up and far less cumbersome. The SFX were astonishingly good.

The comedy was definitely verging on the George Lucas style, but I did find myself laughing along to it more often than not. Just a shame the love and mush got in the way. Hopefully a directors cut will mean less is more.

Good, but not as good as the first.

True a lot of his films suck, but the Transformers films are suprisingly decent for a Michael Bay film. In short, this:

However, a mate of mine has said Transformers 2 "has to be the best movie he has ever seen" so it does have the potential to be a good film. I'll probably watch it sometime.

Meh, if it's still good I'll probably give it a chance and still watch it.

Saw it yesterday too.

The plotline just managed to hold on long enough to let me enjoy watching giant robots beat the shit out of each other and Megan Fox's ass.

If you expect anything more you're missing the point.

I think the problem for me was the MORE MORE MORE ethos just resulted in too much of everything and as a result, despite the running time, none of the new characters made any impact. Mudflap and Skids were great and Jetfires backstory followed the old Gen 1 story. But he was just there for exposition. A shame as he had the potential to be a great character.
Great to see Megatron and Starscream bickering.
The scene with Sam brain should have been a tense, dramatic head fuck but Bay threw the Autobots in to ruck leaving no time for any tension to build.

The last battle was mighty impressive but went on way too long and had none of the drama of the city ruck in the first film.

The story with Sams breakdown could have been the spine of a great story, but everything was thrown away in quick succession in favour of something else.

That said, it was spectacular to watch. It's just a shame Bay didn't have an editor and some QC.

Hhmm... I can't think of a better movie than that. Half Megan Fox and half giant talking, fighting robots? Good lord man, you have stumbled upon something truly great!

I've noticed that humanity plays too much of a role in a lot of films that could've been more awesome. AVP is also guilty of this.

I'm gonna give it a chance, I know it's not perfect but I did enjoy the first one so I'm gonna see this one as well, hopefully opening day.

Speaking of which, I don't like how Jetfire never got to kick arse with his giant axe!
And where the fuck was Soundwave?!
Ravage got its spine ripped out, the poor thing.
Where the FUCK was Soundwave?!
Why did Soundwave talk like the Claw from Inspector Gadget?
