I don't think so... I believe the series was discontinued after issue #3 of the 3rd volume due to Dreamwave going bankrupt in 2005, and the first two volumes never mentioned any swarm.miracleofsound said:Wait... the swarm, that was War Within, wasn't it... ? The ending was some fucked up shit.
For reasons of speed and transportation...? There's a planet-wide war going on on Cybertron - do you think any of the factions could be even half as efficient as they are if they had to get everywhere on foot? Just because it's not Earth doesn't mean that there can't be cars and other vehicles. Just watch the very first episode of G1, you'll see enough cars and planes before they get to Earth.Ghostwise said:Why are there cars transforming on Cybertron? Doesn't really make sense.
I reccomend checking out 'Time Wars' too, it's got a really epic storyline involving Galvatron tearing a hole in the space-time continuum.Sonicron said:I don't think so... Still, you got me curious about this swarm thing now, so I'm going to read up on it.

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Dec. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Experience the legendary battle between the AUTOBOTS and DECEPTICONS as Activision Publishing, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) announced today that Transformers?: War for Cybertron is in development by award-winning High Moon Studios. Based on Hasbro's legendary TRANSFORMERS property, the game takes players to the TRANSFORMERS characters' home planet of CYBERTRON for a new look into the epic story of the grand civil war that spawned one of the most brutal rivalries of all time.
"Transformers: War for Cybertron is an origins story, taking players on a gripping, adrenaline-fueled journey that precedes the TRANSFORMERS characters' arrival on Earth," said Rob Kostich, head of marketing, licensed products, Activision Publishing, Inc. "The game transports players to a living, metallic planet where they will battle as giant converting robots in single player, online co-op or head-to-head multiplayer matches that are fully immersive from start to finish."
"For the first time, Hasbro is working with Activision to drive the TRANSFORMERS fiction forward into new story arcs, demonstrating pivotal moments in Transformers history that defined who they are," said Aaron Archer, Senior Design Director, Hasbro. "This remarkable video game helps us to tell a critical event in TRANSFORMERS lore that will be used as canon for future storylines in a way we could have only dreamed of a few years ago. It is a testament to the success of the TRANSFORMERS brand and a key element to the story we look forward to telling in 2010 and beyond."
Transformers: War for Cybertron features two distinct storylines: the AUTOBOT campaign tells a story of heroism to save their home planet against overwhelming odds, and the DECEPTICON campaign tells a story of an unquenchable thirst for power to control the universe. For the first time in a TRANSFORMERS title, fans will be able to play the game with their friends through team-based online co-op, or go head to head in a variety of intense, online multiplayer game modes. The game features a sci-fi art style that introduces to fans the entire living, metallic world of CYBERTRON, as well as all-new visualizations of the iconic TRANSFORMERS characters in their original Cybertronian forms.
Transformers: War for Cybertron is in development for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Windows PC, Wii? and Nintendo DS?, and is not yet rated by the ESRB.

Because it's cool. I mean you're wandering along, being a giant living metal robot, and you think to yourself "Y'know what'd be awesome? Transforming into a car. That'd be wicked sweet". And lo, soon they would all want some, and a new fashion would be born.Ghostwise said:Why are there cars transforming on Cybertron? Doesn't really make sense.
On the other hand, it's being made by the studio that did the Bourne game, and that sucked. So it's probably going to suck, sadly enough.Sonicron said:Perhaps you should try and get your hands on copies of Dreamwave's "Transformers: The War Within", because that's what this game is based on. And guess what? It was the sweetest series ever: It was grim, dark, utterly brutal and had no human element whatsoever. Go read it! NOW! DO IT! THEN BUY THE GAME WHEN IT COMES OUT!dududf said:Probably going to suck...
The TF franchise as been reaping in money for such a long time now, that I think they don't care about the franchise any more. Just scenes where Megan Fox leans over.
Seriously...? Damn.GloatingSwine said:On the other hand, it's being made by the studio that did the Bourne game, and that sucked. So it's probably going to suck, sadly enough.

I'm still hoping it'll turn out decent (like 2004's Transformers: Armada), but that is a strong indicator to the contrary. :\

A new trailer? Can't seem to find it. Could you please provide a link? The War Within is brilliant. It's what Transformers fans have always hoped for from a franchise really just made to sell toys to little kids. We all deny this of course.
And that new trailer? BY THE MATRIX THAT'S TRYPTICON!
Minor shame that they've redesigned pre-Ark Bumblebee, but the original was admittedly a bit lame. And Prime doesn't look quite as kick-ass as he should. But that's totally Peter Cullen doing the voice isn't it? I presume they've recruited Frank Welker for Megatron again?

Anyway, that trailer looks very promising.
Prime is clearly voiced by Cullen again, but I'm not sure if that's Welker as Megatron. I just hope they vocode Soundwave's voice tracks so they sound like in G1.
