I'm sure it's because the guys at Automobile magazine are used to getting, you know, free cars in the mail. So when they open this one up and it's just some lame movie promo, they tossed it in the dumpster in a fit of rage!

Reminds me of the Aqua Teen Hunger Force bomb threat a while back. At least that one was at least a little plausible.

People seriously need to grow a pair and quit freaking out over every little thing.

Don't worry, I will kill the reanimated scorpion over your lifeless corpse. Though I may not have any sugar cubes to reanimate you afterward.

Why'd they throw it away though?

So they can pretend thor never happened.
Silly Flauros your logic makes no sense.

Thor was a good movie.
I second this.

Even a bulge in someone's pants would qualify as a bomb scare nowadays. Still, You can never be too careful.

Yes, yes you can be too careful. The stress of worrying about all the half-cooked crap the media feeds you will kill you long before any terrorist attack.

"OMG ITS A BOMB!"

"No...that's an iPod..."
I disagree. After 11/9/01, America didn't care about being too careful and probably never will again.

I am a bomb technician and it's never failed to amaze me how often we're called out to "disarm" items that in no way, under any circumstances, could possibly be a bomb. I've been called on purses, briefcases, bags of trash, even cellphones. I always say better safe than sorry, but sometimes people can be idiots. Unfortunately those calls are usually on weekends or holidays.
Remind me to call a different EOD guy.

Ill admit that I have yet to run into a purse or cellphone IED but I have seen satchel charges stuffed inside briefcases and I have seen explosives hidden in, under, and around piles of trash. I have seen cellphone detonators.
It doesn't take more than a few ounces of explosives to maim or kill a person.
Does it mean you should be paranoid of every object on the side of the road? No.
Does it mean you should fuck around with and just assume everything on the side of the road is safe? No.
Its better to error on the side of caution.

I meant in the US. In country of course you assume everything is an IED at first. But here in the states, a purse left on a table full of other purses shouldn't raise that much suspicion.

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Guys, I have some old comics with some Supersomething, pretty dumb, he's throwing a car into a poor suit guy, I should throw it out I guess, right? Not like it might be of value to some fanatics...

^ I concur. But those were the good ol days. A lot of stuff has changed since then and different kinds of technology has made it more difficult to keep a tab on possible or imminent threats.
Dont get me wrong. I'm not saying I like it. Just that sometimes we may need it.

Yeah, I am not black and white about it. However sometimes it does feel silly.
