I dont think that this will be any good. Colin Ferral is a terrible actor and The Fast and the Furious and xXx were terrible movies. The only thing that will make me want to see this film is if the gunshot effects look like someone is really being shot like in the perfect original.

I wonder if they'll include the ridiculous sub-plot that he may have singlehandedly stopped an alien invasion as a little kid.

The original was perfection, it cannot be remade.

Ronnie Cox, Michael Ironside, and Arnold are irreplaceable. So many cultural memes came out of that movie; quato, three boobed chick, "two weeks!", the skeleton scanner, johnny cab, etc etc etc.

They need to stop giving Arnold's parts away to skinny dudes. Adrian Brody just didn't work in Predators but there were a lot of things wrong with that movie other than him. Pretty much the only person ripped enough to take up Arnold's mantle is Michael Jai White.

Great ideas here and I think Colin Farrell will likely fit better as the secret agent who doesn't know he's a secret agent than Arnold did. I'm quite looking forward to how this turns out.
except the beauty of totall recall is that you don't know waht the plot actually is, it never fully commits: it could be all a dream, it could be that quaid is a brainwiped secret agent, it could be the paranoid delusion as a result of the holiday memory going wrong...

This remake is a waste of fucking time, just like colin farrell.
I see and... wait, this changes things how exactly? Waste of time? Possibly, but I'd prefer to see the final result before I make that call, but none of the information given so far says anything about how the story will be framed or translated. In fact, as it's said to skew more towards the original short story than the Arnold movie I'd say the chances of mind jobbery are even higher in the remake.

No three-titted women if they want to avoid an R rating (or whatever it is they use in america).
They could put her in a bikini or something... I dunno, but the current generation of Hollywood's obsession with making things R-rated (or child friendly or whatever) is kinda annoying alright. Total Recall probably isn't the kind of film that would translate well to a child friendly flick. But then then again, they tried that with the forth Die Hard film...

And look who is directing this...
I have just lost some faith in this remake...

Collin Farrel...

meh, i dont really care for his work, and this movie seems a little bit weird, remaking an adaptation of a book, taking more material from the book than the remake!?

heh, who knows maybe this will be a good popcorn movie, but i doubt it will change the whole "Movie" concept

and perhaps people will realize 3D is not needed to make a movie, althought this one might be a bad example its the first one since this 3D craze began (imo)

Am I the only one who is kind of annoyed that they are calling this a remake but changing the entire plot? Its not like Mars was a small detail in the original. I love Philip K. Dick's work and have no problem with them making another movie based on that story that is more close to the writing, but the fact of the matter is the original Total Recall was more 'inspired by' than 'based on' We Can Remember It For You Wholesale. A remake implies they are recreating the movie rather than just taking an idea from the same source and doing something entirely different with it.

who has previously worked on movies like xXx and The Fast and the Furious
With pedigree like this, a garbage flick is practically a certainty! Woo hoo!
That was my first thought... both of those movies were horrible. Maybe since he's only producing he won't screw it up too badly, like if he was directing. The story could be interesting done differently and more true to the book... more like Inception and less like, well, every 80's Arnie movie.

I say bring it on. If it deviates enough from the first one to become its own film than I'm sure it'll be fine. It doesn't have to compete with the first one, if it's in another league.

Cookies for not wanting to make this movie in 3D, and I hope it stays that way. 3D has been WAY overhyped in my opinion. Having seen multiple 3D films, I have yet to see one that really made me feel spending more money to see it in "3D" was worth it as it adding something to my experience seeing the film.

These sum up my thoughts exactly.
