Music games seem to be on a decline (at least as far as I can tell, which is pretty decent rate of perception because I don't see such a substantial amount of them being released in the near future. And even if one of you somehow proves me false in that statement, that really isn't the point to the topic I'm bringing up anyways, because they'll eventually either decline or become a permanent fixture and no longer a trend). Sorry, I needed that disclaimer there.

Anyway, point being, as this medium begins to expand there continues to be new niches and genres. Music games may be a trend (much like bad cop duos were with movies back in the not so distant past, because I sure as hell don't forget them *shiver*), and eventually a new trend will rise. What do all of you think that trend is?

Personally, part of me thinks that the whole motion concept may be that trend. I fail to see how countless similar motion tennis games will continue to excite for years to come. Quite honestly, if I wanted to play tennis, I'd call up my friend and we would go to a court (which I do, btw, I'm not using that as an example for just any reason).

But a second guess, is another easy choice; the dark-gritty, super realistic games will fall to something opposite. I'm figuring everything will get reeled back in and super colorful crazy games will be on the rise again soon enough.

(Also, please note, I'm not trying to nag on music games, motion sensor games, or dark-gritty games. All of them have their place and can be fun. I'm just trying to pinpoint where this beautiful medium is headed, because I'm rather curious. And I figured, who better to ask and get opinions from than my fellow Escapists who also all happen to enjoy games quite a deal).

So what do you all think? What will be the next trend that sweeps us all off our feet?

RPGs are becoming pretty trendy, as they become more action oriented.

But the next big thing?

Motion controlled dance games.

Look at the massive success of Just Dance, Michael Jackson, and Dance Central.
