Apparently you missed the Escapist already documentating this news in their News Room. And yes, I am fucking excited but if this turns out to be shit and devoid of the classic Tribes feeling, I go back to the previous ones.

I just thought it strange that the news came after I had posted tribes 2 now known as Tribes Next in the share a free game.
